Are you ready for an adventure of a lifetime? Then you need to book with Cobalt Sport Fishing today for an unforgettable time. Join Captain Ted Donald as he shows you the best places to go to catch your dream catch.
The vessel “Cobalt” was built by Symbol in 1985 and had a complete re-fit in 2000. She is a 49’ boat and has been re-powered with twin Caterpillar 420 HP diesel engines with less than 1000 hours on them. Cobalt is equipped with in-deck fish holds and can carry up to 4 1/2 scoops of bait, easily allowing for multi-day trips.
This boat also has two separate bunk rooms and one extra mid-ship bunk, one large bath and shower, private vacu-flush head, open galley and seating arrangement, huge fishing cockpit with combing, higher than usual side railing for easy and safe passage around the boat, outriggers, and a huge flybridge that will accommodate everyone onboard. She is a stable ride, with Westmar Gyro/Fins. All of this adds up to an incredible boat that will keep you safe and comfortable.
Depending on which trip you choose, you’ll be targeting a huge range of species. The longer trips give you the best chance of catching deep sea predators, so for those that want trophy catches, these are the trips for you. Species include Yellowfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Bigeye Tuna, Dorado, Yellowtail, Rock Fish, Seabass, Lingcod and Halibut.
Rods and reels are provided. Food and drink are also supplied on every trip. The only thing you need to provide is a fishing license.
Book now for an unforgettable adventure. Capt. Ted can’t wait to welcome you on board and show you why these waters are his favorite!

Full Day Trip (Local)
What an experience this was for us! My family of 6 ventured out expecting to catch tons of fish, untill the sea sickness began. We stayed out in the ocean for several hours before heading back to the Bay. The family recovered and we continued to fish in the bay for the remainder part of trip. The captain and deck hand (Tim) were great! They helped with the kids and baiting hooks all day and being excited for each catch. The lunch they provided was a great treat after feeling so ill hours before. They definitely delivered an experience we will never forget! They are open to whatever you feel comfortable with doing, staying out or going to the bay! Really Chill nice caption and deck hand! They also were so kind in filleting and vacuum sealing our fish for the trip home! Thanks again

The captain was able to search and find us some big yellowtails when the bluefin weren't willing to play. They were very patient with the kids. Nice clean boat.

Our experience on the Cobalt was amazing. Ted and the crew were extremely hospitable. We departed San Diego around 8:30pm. Ted, Lonny, and Tanner met us on the dock and gave us the rundown of what to expect. They were very open with communication and gave us some options on what we could fish for. After choosing to target mahi-mahi south into Mexico, we were underway. First thing in the morning we hit yellowfin on a troll, then were onto a school a mahi that did not seem to end. Ted, Lonnie, and Tanner were on it. Having half the group with some experience, and half never being on the water before the crew was extremely helpful and patient with everyone during the extremely heavy runs of fish. We will definitely book with Capt. Ted and the Cobalt again in the future! Here are some additional notes that might be helpful to others... Boat/Sleeping Accommodations: We had a group of 6 adults and the sleeping arrangements were great. There were 5 single bunks, 1 double, and a couch for sleeping options. Bathroom: The boat has a single head which was extremely clean and well maintained. Galley/Food: Ted and the crew kept us well fed on our trip. They delivered on their promise of water, soft drinks, snacks, and 3 meals. Even though we only needed to bring some beer, we definitely brought too many snacks with us. Every meal with good breakfast burritos, fresh baked cookies, box lunch, and pasta. Nobody went hungry on this trip.

Was a great first trip out on the water for my family. Lonnie did a great job getting us on the fish and We could not have been luckier to have a guy like Tanner. He worked his tail off making sure all the fish got on the boat, fishing rigs were always ready to go and was always there for my boys if they needed any assistance. Captain Lonnie was just as great. He was always lending a hand when Tanner needed the help. Can’t say that for all Captains. The boat had plenty of snacks and drinks for the whole trip. My wife and daughter-in-law went on the trip also. The only criticism I could possibly give would be for there to have been something warm for the ladies to have for breakfast. Just a Jimmy Dean microwaveable breakfast sandwich would of worked. Other than that, Lonnie and Tanner made this a wonderful trip for me to spend time with my boys, wife and daughter-in-law. Thanks so much, will definitely be taking another trip next year.

Captain Ted and his team Made us feel so comfortable and welcome, did all the work so we felt like kings! - from lounging while he navigated the Trip, gave our kids all of the instruction and safety information necessary for them to stay safe and have loads of fun, to Baiting our hooks for us - all we had to do was stand up, be handed a rod - and start catching fish! Everything was so well prepared and well thought out for our experience to be maximized. Snacks, drinks, jackets and blankets were all available and given to us when needed. I was even given a personal pair of nice polarized sunglasses to borrow because I had forgotten mine! We were impressed with how observant captain Ted was to notice where other boats were gathering miles away and he knew that meant whales and dolphins to take us to go see, which was so special for our family to experience together.
