Puerto Vallarta is one of the world’s premier destinations for saltwater fishing, for good reason. You’ll have bluewater action a short ride away from the port! Captain Erick Chavarin will put you on top of the red-hot bite in these blue waters.
You’ll head out for this angling adventure on board his 29’ Bertram. Don’t let her size fool you, she’s a mean fishing machine, capable of holding 6 anglers plus the crew. There’s a flybridge, a set of outriggers, and more – all to give you an edge when you get a strike. The entire boat has shade so you can stay on the rod all day long.
Capt. Erick will take you into the bountiful Bay of Banderas for a wide range of species. Get ready to go after Marlin, Sailfish, Roosterfish, various Snappers and Groupers, and other species – all a short boat ride away.
Anglers looking to test their fishing skills and hook up a trophy can head out into offshore waters on longer trips. The 12-hour pelagic trip is your best bet at ticking off a monster catch off your bucket list. You’ll pursue Black and Blue Marlin, torpedo-sized Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish, Wahoo, and other species approximately 45 miles away from the coast.
The charter will provide you with 10 bottles of water, a six-pack of beer, as well as ceviche and chips on all trips. You’re free to bring whatever else you want to eat and drink.
Live bait is prepared in advance and included in the price. The crew will clean and fillet your hard-fought catch once your trip is over, don’t forget to pack a cooler.
If you’ve never fished out of Puerto Vallarta before, this is the perfect opportunity. If you have, this is your chance to one-up your previous trip. Book a trip with Capt. Erick today and embark on an unforgettable fishing excursion!

The day didn't start very well. We booked in advance and paid deposit. Nobody was at the meeting point. Another boat captain called the captain we booked with and they didn't know they had a booking with us. But they were able to take us out and overall was good trip. We didn't make it out for the bigger fish but caught some spanish mackerel and my husband caught a very nice jack crevale. We would recommend them, but make sure you have contact with them before your trip.
Captain & crew were great. Saw some sailfish jumping but no takers. On the way in captain saw birds working over a boil of fish. We were able to catch 3 jack crevalles. We actually stayed out past our time to complete the catch. Nice finish to a nice day!

We caught 2 very nice Mahi Mahi and a bunch of Skip Jack tuna. Captain Erick and Victor took great care of us even preparing a delicious ceviche from the fresh caught Skip jack. My wife got the recipe. We will be fishing again with them the next time we are in town
Booked a 3/4 day trip on the El Amo and headed toward the Marieta Islands. Captain and deckhand were very friendly and constantly busy trying to get us on fish, changing baits, setting lines out, etc. Fishing was pretty good, our group caught around 2 dozen Bonitas, 4 Jacks and the highlight was a good sized Spanish Mackeral. Had several other decent bites that didn't get hooked up. I was really hoping we would catch a Mahi Mahi but no luck that day (I fish a lot so I understand that you don't always catch fish). I was told by the deckhand for the best chance at larger species like Mahi, Tuna, Marlin, etc. to book a longer 10 -12 hour trip. 6 hour trips only go 18-20 miles out and the longer trips go 40 miles plus. Was also told that November and December are the best months at larger species around the Bay for shorter trips. I mention this as something to consider if booking, just depends how long you want to fish and dedication to fishing as it relates to the rest of your party. My friend and I only booked the 6 hour because our wives came along and fishing was not their primary focus of this vacation. Crew also made fresh ceviche from several of the Bonitas which was very good! One item to note: bring cash with you to pay for the balance of the charter in the morning, our friends thought they would be able to use a card to pay and ended up having to go to an ATM to get cash which cut into our primetime early morning fishing. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable experience. Maybe next time it won't be so relaxing as we will be worn out from reeling in the big one!
I am the third generation of a family of fishermen. I love the sea and the excitement of fishing, from the smallest fish to the largest. I know the local waters and many different fishing spots. For me, fishing is a way of life, more than a job. I love sharing that satisfaction with others, and I invite you to enjoy the excitement of the world of fishing! Captain Erick Chavarin has been fishing the local area for almost 10 years, learning where the best bite is and the tricks of the local fish. He's an avid angler who has competed in and won many tournaments in Puerto Vallarta.
