Saltwater Safari Company maintains its reputation as the leading Alaska charter fishing service and pioneers of the Seward, Alaska long-range fishing grounds. Established in 1990, Owner's Capt. Bob Candopoulos and Captain Bobby Savino have a combined 60 seasons of experience fishing these waters. With their two, incredible 53' Delta charter boats Legend and Legacy and the 43' Renegade, they strategically mapped the ocean floor day after day, season after season and pioneered the most incredible, long-range fishing grounds that Alaska has ever seen!
Long considered one of the world's leading destinations for sport anglers, Seward, Alaska offers a wide variety of fishing opportunities to suit your specific needs. Located just 2 hours from Anchorage, Seward offers some of the best light tackle fishing for Silver and King Salmon to deep-sea battles with the Giant Pacific Halibut. Anglers from across the globe converge on the small coastal community of Seward, Alaska to test their skills and try their luck fishing in one of the most picturesque settings imaginable!
The prime fishing grounds out of Seward are located in the Gulf of Alaska.
The Gulf is rich in everything needed to sustain this incredible fishery. Offshore reefs and deep structure hold a tremendous variety of bottom-fish species. It's not at all uncommon for a lucky angler to be fighting a giant Pacific Halibut while others are landing monster lingcod or huge yellow-eye and black rockfish. When deep-sea fishing out of Seward, Alaska, you never know from one moment to the next what you might hook into.
Bag limits are as followed:
Halibut: 2 per person (one must be under 28")
Rockfish: 3 per person
Salmon: up to 6 per person
Lingcod: 1 per person
Pacific Cod: no limit
Our crew will clean your catch and bag it for you, and there is vacuum sealing/shipping options are available for you if desire.

Full Day Offshore - Halibut (May) on May 31, 2025
Bobby was good with communicating and somewhat accommodating to me and my group as I added to my group a day or so before the trip. I do have a negative comment which may be towards fishing booker rather than saltwater safari (why I am leaving 5 stars for them) is that with the only highway between anchorage and Seward being shut down due to an accident from 4 am to 8:30 am the day of my 7am charter, I was unable to make it to the boat on time. I was not refunded for the deposit. It sucked having to miss out on fishing and losing the money but I guess It’s my fault for assuming the highway would be open.

Full Day Offshore – Halibut (June) on June 12, 2025
We had great weather and were expecting to do really well in terms of limiting out on fish. Unfortunately, we struggled to find the halibut (as did most other boats out on the water). The crew did a great job of being versatile and moving to locations where we could try to get the best out of our trip. Some of us did come home with halibut, but everyone was able to get their fill of rockfish.

The crew were knowledgeable, professional and friendly. The trip out was beautiful with snow capped mountains on all sides for most of the ride. The crew had everything set when it was time to fish and patiently worked with anyone having trouble with the gear. We all caught several fish a piece and our 11 &12 year olds had a blast. Highly recommend these guys for a fun halibut cruise.

Captain Noah and Micah provided an awesome charter experience! If the fish weren’t biting Captain Noah moved on quickly. The views can’t be beat in Seward and Resurrection Bay. Micah was a fantastic deck hand, filleted our catch perfectly, and on a busy boat of 12 anglers no one was ever waiting on bait or help with their catch. We will be back and highly recommend this charter!

Full Day Offshore –Halibut July/Aug on August 23, 2024
We booked this trip after getting "weathered" out in Homer a few days earlier. We were unable to rebook in Homer and this was the last option for a full day trip targeting halibut. The trip was just as advertised with halibut targeted until everyone on the boat limited, then fished for rockfish (everyone limited on that too). Other fish were caught too. Had hoped to get out further for larger halibut, but not what was advertised for this one. Boat was VERY comfortable and first mate worked very hard the entire trip with a smile on his face. Not as much interaction with Captain Cameron, but he was also very professional.
