 L.G. Smith Boulevard, Oranjestad, Aruba

Known for its historical significance and the abundance of marine life, Oranjestad, the capital of Aruba, has so much to offer when it comes to fishing. If you’re looking to explore these plentiful deep Caribbean waters with an experienced captain at the helm, you need a trip with J-String!

They’re a family owned business operated by Captain Eddy and his son, mate Anthony. They have been running successful deep sea fishing charters for over 30 years and what separates them from others is their vast experience, friendly approach, and a desire to custom tailor their trips to each customer.

Jump aboard their 36’ Crusader offshore sportfishing boat for an incredible day on the water. The “J-String” comes with a 320 HP Caterpillar engine, outriggers, downriggers, an ice-box, and not one, but 3 fighting chairs. It also features a restroom, shower, beds, and a kitchen for maximum comfort on longer trips.

This beauty can take up to 6 anglers to the most productive spots fishing at the same time. Your lines will be wet just 5 minutes after leaving the dock. The waters here get very deep very quickly so you could be catching A-game species just 8 miles from shore. You’ll be fishing the deep blues and reefs in pursuit of Sailfish, Marlin, Tuna, Mahi, Wahoo, Kingfish, Barracuda, Jacks, and much more.

The catch will be shared between customers and the crew – you’ll get to keep enough to have a hearty dinner for 10. Billfish are the only species that are released back into the water.

The captain will supply top-notch fishing gear, lures, and dead bait. Snorkeling equipment can also be provided for more people – just consult the captain before the trip to check if your size is available. Drinks and licenses are covered, as well as fish cleaning. If you don’t want to take your catch home, the captain will gladly recommend a restaurant that will cook it for you.

J-String can’t wait to have you onboard!

FANTASTIC VOYAGE with fish onboard

J and Eddie provided an amazing trip and we had a blast. We started off strong with a 4' wahoo in the box just a half hour after leaving the dock. Had a great time with music, refreshments, stories and 6 lines in the water! J's knowledge of the area, the fishing, the tactics and all things Aruba was impressive. He was a great resource as two in our group were deep sea fishing for the first time! On our way back in, we hooked up a sailfish and the fight was on... With waves crashing over the stern we were able to get the fish in hand and had an opportunity for some great photos! Unbelievable experience and the boat and crew made it all happen. We'll be adding J-String to our agenda on our annual trip to Aruba.

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon. Fishing was the first activity we did. We loved how attentive the crew and captain were. They would change out bait to get more chances of catching fish and wanted to ensure we had a good time. The mahi mahi I caught was huge and tasted delicious. They can recommend nearby restaurants that can pick up your catch and cook it for you.

I will start this off by saying how great the captains mate was! Jaylin for how young he was, was awesome at his job. He was very talkative and told us everything we needed to know about deep sea fishing. That being said we didn’t catch anything but by the looks of it not very many boats did that day. The crew was awesome and they had 6 lines out at one time but the fish weren’t biting. I guess that’s why they call it fishing and not catching!

I took 5 high-school boys for a 4hr afternoon trip. The seas were rough and a couple boys got sick but we powered through. We put in a strong effort but could not get a fish on the line. That's why it's called "fishing" and not "catching". Overall, a great experience and everyone walked away happy. The crew was awesome and very knowledgeable. Make sure to take Dramamine first even if you don't think you get seasick. Absolutely recommended.

Full Day Trip on August 8, 2024

Went on an 8 hour tour with the captain, “Spider-Man 1 & Spider-Man 2” who were both friendly and knowledgeable. The boat we kept clean during the time we were aboard with a hose after every catch. The engine didn’t smell and as a group of 3 we were each able to have our own fighting chair for the entire trip. The crew provided bottles of water and KFC since it was an all-day trip, but we also brought our own drinks and snacks as well(mainly hand/finger foods like ritz crackers). Even if we hadn’t caught any fish it was still a wonderful ride, but when it was all said and done we caught 10 Mahi Mahi and 6 Benito’s.
