Captain Matthew Solchenberger is an Algoma native and he’s been exploring the bountiful waters of the lake his whole life. With over 2 decades of experience, your guide is an expert in putting people on the trail of trophy fish.

Capt. Matthew has an array of trips on offer, so you can take your pick between anything from half-day excursions to multi-day adventures with lodging. Whatever option you choose, the captain will go out if his way to make your time on the rod exciting and memorable.

Whatever trip you choose, you will come face-to-gills with the superstars like massive Coho and Chinook Salmon, Muskellunge, and Smallmouth Bass. Not only are they amazing fighters, but they also make for delicious table fare. Lake Michigan is also famous for its premier Trout fishing, so you can find Rainbow, Lake, and Brown Trout at the end of your line as well.

To start off your fishing expedition, you will come aboard a 40’ Viking sport fisher, a stable and roomy vessel, that can easily accommodate up to 6 people. The boat is rigged with twin 385 HP Volvo engines, which make her efficient in getting you to the best fishing spots – your line will be in the water 15–20 minutes after you’ve left the shore.

There’s a private toilet on board, as well as an air-conditioned cabin, and a small kitchen where you can keep your food and drinks. Capt. Matthew will provide quality Penn and Shimano rods and reels, and you’ll have a first mate to help out while you’re fishing. He’ll also clean and fillet your catch so that you can feast as soon as you come home.
