Captain Roberto Navarro is known as the “jigging pioneer” of Playa del Carmen. He studied the art of high-speed, slow-pitch, kabura, and inchiku jigging and brought these techniques to his hometown more than a decade ago. Since then, he’s enjoyed running charters out of Puerto Aventuras and creating lasting memories with his customers!
Capt. Roberto invites you on his 27’ Imemsa center console. She’s outfitted with state-of-the-art electronics, including a Garmin GPS and Furuno chart-plotter in order to put you on top of your target as quickly and efficiently as possible. You’ll also have a live bait tank, a cooler for food and drinks, an icebox for your catch, and top-of-the-line Shimano fishing tackle. The boat accommodates 5 guests and everyone can fish comfortably at the same time. Kids ages 5 and up are welcome aboard and they’ll be given life jackets, as well.
Capt. Roberto holds the record for catching the second largest Swordfish in the state of Quintana Roo, weighing in over 630 pounds! You can expect to target lots of Swordfish, as well as Sailfish, Tuna, Amberjack, Kingfish, Barracuda, Wahoo, Snapper, and more! Capt. Roberto will show you different types of jigging and popping, and you’ll be able to troll for pelagic species up to 6 miles from the shore.
Your fishing license is covered by the captain’s boat so you can come straight to the dock ready to fish. Just arrive 15 minutes before departure, bring some sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses and the rest will be taken care of. Capt. Roberto also provides beer, juice, soda, and water on all of his trips, including sandwiches and chips on full-day excursions.

Best Fishing Charter
What an incredible experience for the family. My son loves fishing, but never went deep sea fishing. His first time going was with Roberto. We researched so many charters in the area and decided on him based on his reviews. Now that we worked with him, I can concur with all these positive experiences. We were able to catch mahi and tuna. We ended the trip with a sailfish. Almost caught two sailfish at the same time. What an amazing moment. Roberto and his team know what they are doing. So many other charters were out at the same time and had no luck at all. Luckily we couldn’t say the same. I’m truly thankful that we went with our gut on choosing Wearever fishing expeditions. 6 out of 5 stars!! You can tell that Roberto loves what he does.

Full Day Trip – Swordfishing
Wow!!!
Unbelievable day fishing with Roberto and Leo, the effort they put in cannot be matched from sailfish tactics to marlin to swordfish and back they were constantly changing tactics to keep the fish coming! A day I will remember forever dreams well and truly come true, exceeded every expectation! Roberto and Leo are both very knowledgable and truly love being out there fishing! They both have great English skills, there was no trouble with communication throughout the booking and they are both great company. I would highly recommend the 8 hour trip to give you the best chance, we ended the trip with 2 sailfish and a big barracuda with plenty of action! Thank you again truly unforgettable do not book with anyone else!!!

Full Day Trip – Swordfishing
Full day swordfishing
Captain (owner) Roberto and Tony his 1st mate were very friendly, talkative (Roberto knows English very well), and knowledgeable of the area and species of fish that you have the chance to catch. Although we didn’t get a bite for a swordfish I know he knew exactly what he was doing and if there was one there we would’ve gotten him. Caught a couple barracuda trolling before we hit the sword spots and had a tuna on but it came unbuttoned. Also had a giant shark take one of our sword baits. All in all it was a good day of fishing that we came home empty handed. Roberto stayed out way longer than I had paid for because that’s how much he loves doing it, and catching them. If they were caught everytime you went out, they wouldn’t be exciting to catch. I’ll be back to get my sword. Heard the best month is April.

Half Day Trip
This trip put our arms to the test!
My first trip to Mexico and I was set on doing some fishing. Captain Roberto was extremely knowledgeable and wasted no time putting us on fish. We started jigging and before the sun even came up we had landed our first fish (a~15lb Horse-eye Jack. Next we did some trolling for Wahoo to take advantage of the ideal dawn conditions. We had a few strikes but they didn't end up sticking. We trolled to a few areas with structure and when we got there we'd jig the bottom. Sure enough, the Captain knew where the fish were. We caught a few albacore ranging from 10-20 lbs, all of them putting up a very big fight. The first mate Tony was very helpful, showing us how to jig and taking over the rod if our arms needed a break. The highlight of the trip was when my wife's uncle brought in the fish of a lifetime, a 40 lb king mackerel that was almost as long as he was tall. All in all, the trip was amazing, we got a good variety of species, the fights were challenging, and the Captain and first mate were very skilled and helpful. If you go fishing around Cancun, make sure it's with Captain Roberto Navarro!

I’ve gone fishing five times now with Roberto over a decade or so. He consistently exceeded my hopes in catching fish. Stay away from the diesel burning boats around Playa if you want to catch fish. Note you don’t sit in a chair waiting for the captain to hand you the rod after he sets the hook. in this style of fishing. You are actively using the gear, you may lose fish. But you will catch fish. I have fished all across Mexico, own a boat in Florida, you will not be disappointed, he is renowned for he knowledge

My first trip to Mexico and I was set on doing some fishing. Captain Roberto was extremely knowledgeable and wasted no time putting us on fish.
