Captain Troy Smith specializes in fishing the offshore waters for Tuna and Marlin and invites you to join him on one of his deep-sea adventures and land a trophy catch you've always been dreaming of!
The 44' Ocean Yacht sport fisher, you'll be spending the trip on boasts a well-maintained interior with an upgraded, air-conditioned cabin, a fully-furnished galley, a 55' 4K TV, and a multimedia system. She comes equipped with a Queen bed, two twin beds, and a sofa bed to make your full day and overnight trips much more comfortable. In addition to all the comfort, the boat is a fully geared-up fishing platform, with all types of onboard electronic systems designed to help you find and stay on fish much easier.
The launch point is a mere 50 miles from the continental shelf which provides some great fishing spots for both Tuna and Marlin fishing as well as Mahi Mahi and delicious deep-sea fish like the Tilefish and Black Sea Bass. Depending on the trip, your adventure could take you 25-75 miles offshore.
To be sure you're given the best shot at reeling in these tough fish, the captain will equip you with world-class Penn and Shimano reels and custom rods. Also included in the price is any live bait you need for the day. The captain will stock up on it ahead of the trip so you can get to fishing for your target right away.
The only things you will need to remember to bring along are polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, non-skid deck shoes and your choice of food and drinks for the day.

I recently had the opportunity to go on a 7-hour fishing charter trip, and let me tell you, it was an experience kids and I will never forget. From the moment we stepped onto the boat, we were greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable crew who made us feel right at home. The boat itself was top-notch, equipped with all the necessary fishing gear and amenities to ensure a comfortable trip. The captain wasted no time in getting us to the best fishing spots, and throughout the day, he shared his vast knowledge and expertise, teaching us various fishing techniques and providing helpful tips along the way. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the abundance of fish we caught. It seemed like every time we cast our lines, we were reeling in a nice catch. The crew was there to assist us every step of the way, helping to bait our hooks, untangle lines. It was a truly hands-on experience that made us feel like seasoned anglers. Overall, this 7-hour fishing charter trip exceeded all expectations. The crew's professionalism, knowledge, and passion for fishing were evident throughout the entire journey. I’m a bit of an offshore fishing freak, and I was very impressed with the captains and crew of the New Release. All the gear was top notch, the trolling baits were kept fresh, and the layout was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, we didn’t get any bites. However, it was no fault of the boat… turns out, after gettin in that every other boat in the harbor skunked that day as well. A nearby storm (days away) and full moon are more to blame in my opinion. All this being said, I had an amazing time. The weather picked up (15-20 knts) more than expected, but it was still a comfortable ride. We saw whales, a myriad of different birds, and three different military vessels. I didn’t get a picture, but an aircraft carrier passed us within a mile and a half. That was very cool. My thanks and highest regards to the capt, crew, and vessel of New Release fishing charters.

Due to changing weather captain Troy was in constant contact with us a few days prior and up until 5am the morning of our trip. As he was concerned for the grand kids. Luckily the weather cooperated and we had a beautiful day. All in all we had an awesome day of fishing. Started off trolling as Tuna were inshore, hooked up a few times but lost them but did manage to score on a Bonita. We then switched up and targeted Seabass. Which allowed us to get the grand kids involved who are 6 & 4 and they had a blast. Captain & Crew were excellent and were there to help every step of the way. Would definitely recommend this trip and will absolutely look to book another trip next time we are in OC. MD.

An overall exceptional experience for my son and I as we celebrated his 14th birthday. Captains Troy & Debbie and Mate Cory worked tirelessly to get us on the fish, were so great to meet and spend the day with, and helped Mason so he could land a Yellowfin, Mahi, and Barracuda. The New Release is an awesome boat, super comfortable, tons of room, clean and a fast workhorse put to the test. Amazing day! We will definitely charter a trip with New Release again and are already looking at dates. I highly recommend them!!

This was the trip of a lifetime for me. I was VERY interested in catching tilefish. Captain Troy, and his crew gave me an experience I will never forget, and, want to repeat. We went out 60 miles into the ocean. Because of Hurricane Ian, the seas were rough going out, but got better later in the day. Troy did very well, considering we were also at the end of a full moon cycle. I thank you so much for all of your efforts, and highly recommend you and your crew to everyone.
