Captain John Foreman is the man behind the helm of the “Bottom Bouncer,” and he warmly welcomes anglers of all ages and skill levels on board.
Capt. John has over 2 decades of angling experience on these waters. When he was a teenager, he couldn’t wait for each day at school to end, so he could grab his rod and reels and head out to the water! Now, he uses his years of knowledge to introduce guests to what Ocean City has to offer. Want to battle notorious Shark species? Capt. John volunteers for the NMFS Apex Predator Program: Shark tagging is a fun and educational activity to experience!
All about the pull on the end of your line? Capt. John says that his favorite sound is a screaming drag, and he’ll happily have you light tackle fishing for Seabass, Flounder, Triggerfish, Bluefish, and many more. Inshore trolling for Bluefish and Spanish Mackerel is a blast, and you can combine fishing with sightseeing, too. Experience is not a problem: hardcore anglers are welcome as well as kids and first-timers. Capt. John believes that you’re never too young or too old to discover a love for fishing!
Each adventure takes place on your captain’s 25’ pilothouse, built to accommodate up to 5 guests. You’ll all be able to fish at the same time, so don’t be afraid to get a friendly competition going. You’ll be joined by a friendly and helpful first mate, who’ll show you the ropes and be on hand for whatever you need. A 20% tip is customary. You’ll find top-notch navigational and safety gear on board, too. Sharks bite all day long so there is no better time of day to fish.
Capt.John will make sure you have the finest rods and reels, as well as tackle, live bait, lures, specialized chum, and a fishing license. All that’s left is to come aboard and join Bottom Bouncer Fishing for an unforgettable day on the water!

We had an absolutely incredible experience shark fishing with this charter! From start to finish, everything was fantastic. John and Hunter were not only extremely knowledgeable, but also incredibly friendly and patient—especially with my two daughters, who were both excited and a little nervous at first. They took the time to explain everything, answered all our questions, and made sure we were comfortable and having fun. We felt completely safe and well taken care of the entire trip. We booked this trip as a special birthday gift for our 13 year old son. We did the 3 hour trip and caught a 70-ish pound sting ray, and THREE 7-8 foot long sharks. I talked about how exciting it would be to catch one big thing, and we got four! Captain John and First Mate Hunter were fantastic. Great communicators and teachers for my son (and me!). We both had a blast and would highly recommend!

4 Hour Bay Adventure on September 12, 2024
The whole trip was amazing! Captain John and his 1st mate Samuel were amazing throughout the entire trip. The boat was clean and well kept and safety was a priority. The captain went over where and what all the safety things were so that we knew if needed. Fishing was great, went to several different places, and ended the day by catching a ray. It was really unique and fun experience. I took my husband and both of my parents, (my dad is 74 and mom had no interest in fishing until today), and they both did great and had a wonderful time and so did my husband as well as myself. We caught a variety of different fish as well and the captain and his 1st mate were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions and gave us a bunch of knowledge regarding the kind of fish we caught or what we were fishing for. This was a once in a lifetime experience and I’m so glad that we did it and I’m so happy that I chose Bottom Bouncer Fishing. I am a big believer in good customer service and the captain and his crew didn’t disappoint!

Captain John Foreman has over 2 decades of fishing experience under his belt, but only decided to turn these years of experience into a career in 2019. He became a captain because, simply, he loves seeing people catch fish! He believes that people have one life to live and should spend it doing what they love: and what he loves is the thrill of chasing fish and hooking them, especially alongside other anglers and guests. He's local to this area and has been fishing here since he was a kid. When he was a teenager, he could barely wait for school to end so that he could leave and get straight out on the water! He gives his best to put people on fish, and always goes for the catch. Capt. John makes sure he's always aware of currents, tides, and patterns, using these to his advantage, and he's all about safety, too. He treats every trip as if his own family is on board, and he is very easy going and laid-back. He has one main goal: to create memories that will last a long time!
