Let Breakwater Charters take you fishing on the beautiful Crystal Coast! Captain Ashley offers lots of different options for you and your family. Even if fishing is not the main priority for every member of your group, there's something for everybody. The ones that don't want to hold the rod, they can hold the camera – the trip will take you to a beautiful sightseeing area as well.

You will be comfortable riding along in the captain's 50ft Buddy Davis custom Carolina sportfish. The boat accommodates up to six guests and everybody can fish at the same time if you're trolling. When bottom fishing, only four lines can be out at the same time, so you'll need to take turns.

Depending on which option you are choosing to book, the targeted species change. If you're looking to fish nearshore or offshore, you can target pelagic fish like King Mackerel, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, and Sailfish or do some bottom dropping for Snapper, Grouper, Triggerfish, and other bottom dwellers.

If inshore or nearshore would be more manageable for you and your group, targeted species would include Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, King Mackerel, and in certain times of the year Cobia.

Your fishing equipment and lures are covered, while it's up to you to bring snacks and drinks. Don't forget your sunscreen, especially on a full day trip. Kids of all ages are welcome, you only need to bring life vests in case they are less than 3 years old.

With their extensive navigation system and over 20 years of experience fishing these waters, you can count on Breakwater Charters keeping you safe and ensuring a fun time too!

Great trip and more than I expected
3/4 Day Trip – Nearshore on July 16, 20262 adults

Fished with Capt. Ashely about 4 years ago and booked a second charter with him last week - 3/4 day nearshore. The night before, he texted me to ask if I could arrive an hour earlier since the day before the Spanish Mackerel were biting around that time. In total, caught 20 fish, mostly good size Spanish, in about 3.5 hours. Took a break and switched to shark fishing, which I had never done before. Caught 4 altogether (two were very young). Took pics and tossed then back in the ocean. They are fighters on the line and the experience was great. The mate was attentive and super helpful - made the trip a first-class charter. I definitely will book another trip with Breakwater whenever I get back to the Crystal Coast.

Post storm trip
Full Day – Bluewater Gulf Stream on June 20, 20262 adults

Captain Ashley and Mate Logan were awesome. My son and I booked a full day trip for June 20, 2026. A major storm blew in the day before that lasted untill late evening on the 19th. We arrived at the Marine at our designated time and were greeted by both the captain and mate. After introductions we headed out to the promise land about 50-60 miles. Seas were a little choppy on way out. The captain made it as smooth as possible and in good time. Within about 30 minutes of fishing I caught my first Mahi Mahi. My son caught his about 45 minutes later. We caught 3 Mahi and checked off the bucket list. They both worked really hard trying to help us catch more but sometimes fish just don’t want to bite. So we moved on to another spot to catch V-liners ala Vermillion snapper. That was a workout as they hit hard and fight hard. We ended up catching our limit of those with a few extra other fish like sea bass and trigger fish. My son and I are thankful and very happy with how the day went Post Storm. We will do again when we can.

Tough day but great crew
Full Day – Bluewater Gulf Stream on July 14, 20264 adults

We did a full day. It was tough to say the least because wind broke up weed line overnight and ocean was rougher than some of our group expected. Ended up catching wahoo, mahi and false albacore. First mate Logan was phenomenal and Captain Ashley navigated the rougher seas very well and got us on fish. Looking forward to our next outing!

My familys first charter!
Half Day Trip (PM) on July 7, 20262 adults3 children

Captin Ashley displayed all the years of experience on our trip. The seas were rough and he handled it beautifully. His first mate Logan was very knowledgeable and friendly. For my first trip I would give it a 10. I strongly suggest a 4 hour trip for your first time if your entire family is going. I know who is coming and not coming next time. lol.

Awesome 3/4 day!
3/4 Day Trip – Offshore on June 16, 20262 adults

I took my parents, brother and nephew fishing offshore for their first time. Captain Ashely and first mate Logan made the experience a memorable one. We caught all varieties of fish including snapper, mahi, mackerel, amberjack and albacore tuna. Overall very excellent time and would highly recommend for anyone looking for a charter in Morehead City!
