You'll be fishing from a 10' glass fiber rowboat, equipped with a portable GPS and VHF radio. The boat comes with top-quality Orvis and Cabela's rods and reels, as well as all necessary fly fishing equipment. She accommodates up to 2 guests and kids ages 7 and older are welcome to join in on the action.
Rainbow Trout is the name of the game here. You can either fly fish or spin from the boat or the shore. If it's your first time fly fishing, no need to worry. Ricardo is an experienced guide and patient teacher who loves teaching beginners how to use a fly rod and reel. He'll take you to some of the most secluded honey holes and hot spots to put you on fish in no time!
You'll fish from a private lagoon called Samaccota, a location well-known for its excellent size Trout fishing opportunities, especially on a fly. This location is approximately 3 hours away from Arequipa and 1:20 hours from Colca, and pick-up and drop-off from are included in the price. You can also ask for river fishing, at another location a few hours away from Arequipa. Although smaller in size and number, the Trout you can catch in the Colca River are fast and smart. As both locations are pretty high in altitude, Ricardo always keeps altitude sickness pills and oxigen just infor his guests.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for you, as well as cold and hot beverages. You won't need a fishing license either, so all you need to bring is comfortable clothing and some sunscreen, and the rest will be taken care of.
