Get ready to discover some of the amazing freshwater opportunities of the southern Andes with Peru Fly Fishing! Your guide for the day, Ricardo Santander, is an expert in fly fishing, especially when it comes to Rainbow Trout. He’s got vast experience fishing throughout the Andes and Patagonia regions of South America and invites you to join him on an unforgettable journey.

You’ll be fishing from a 10’ glass fiber rowboat, equipped with a portable GPS and VHF radio. The boat comes with top-quality Orvis and Cabela’s rods and reels, as well as all necessary fly fishing equipment. She accommodates up to 2 guests and kids ages 7 and older are welcome to join in on the action.

Rainbow Trout is the name of the game here. You can either fly fish or spin from the boat or the shore. If it’s your first time fly fishing, no need to worry. Ricardo is an experienced guide and patient teacher who loves teaching beginners how to use a fly rod and reel. He’ll take you to some of the most secluded honey holes and hot spots to put you on fish in no time!

You’ll fish from a private lagoon called Samaccota, a location well-known for its excellent Trout fishing opportunities, especially on a fly. This location is approximately 3 hours away from Arequipa, and pick-up and drop-off from are included in the price. You can also ask for river fishing, at another location a few hours away from Arequipa. Although smaller in size and number, the Trout you can catch in the Colca River are fast and smart. As both locations are pretty high in altitude, Ricardo always keeps altitude sickness pills for his guests.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided for you, as well as cold and hot beverages. You won’t need a fishing license either, so all you need to bring is comfortable clothing and some sunscreen, and the rest will be taken care of.

Ricardo Santander
Arequipa, Peru
Ricardo Santander began fishing at the age of 17. One of his uncles taught him how to fish for Trout and ever since then he’s been hooked. Over the years, he’s become an expert in Trout fishing by visiting many different lakes, creeks, and rivers throughout the Andes in southern Peru, as well as Patagonia in Chile and Argentina. He’s fished all over the world from freshwater in France to offshore fishing in the US. However, for Ricardo, nothing compares to fly fishing for Trout in Arequipa. He invites you to join him on an exciting adventure and create unforgettable memories in southern Peru!
