Fishing around here will often see you targeting Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. For these species, you’re likely to deep troll using downriggers and light tackle. If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard.
Capt. Nick welcomes you aboard a 22’ Cuddy cabin with room for 4 passengers. It has downriggers and all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, and tackle are ready for you, as well as lures.
You will need to buy a Taupo fishing license. You can do this online or Capt. Nick can arrange licenses for you. Don’t leave home without snacks, sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor.

Going the extra mile
We booked a 2 hour trip and didn’t catch anything. Nick was so concerned that we stayed out an extra half hour and caught fish. Great experience and good stories shared.

Caught our lunch!
We had a great trip this morning with Captain Nick! Even though the weather was a bit gloomy. Caught several fish and released, except for one big one we took to The Crafty Trout at Nick's recommendation. They prepared it for our lunch and it was delicious. Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic trip out with Captain Nick. Everything we were hoping for and then some. Perfect spot selected, great instructions to the kids and help given. Easy chat and three beaut fish to take home. Definitely keen to go out again!
