West Bay Outfitters offers deep sea fishing trips on reefs and wrecks out of Drum Inlet. Spend this day on the water, breathing fresh air, away from day-to-day annoyances. A few hours of fishing will boost your energy and good vibes, no matter how skilled or unskilled you are. Captain Roman welcomes guests of all skill levels, so there’s no reason to skip this adventure.
It all starts on a 25’ CHawk boat that accommodates up to 6 guests. This center console has been restored in 2019 and features the latest navigational electronics and she’s powered by a 200 HP Honda engine. The boat also has a live bait tank and downriggers for trolling.
With a variety of fishing techniques, you get lots of possible targets on this trip. Go after Mahi Mahi, Amberjack, Cobia, Kingfish, Black Seabass, Grouper, and many more. You get to keep the catch, so make the extra effort to land that fish. As soon as you leave the boat, you can head out to the nearest restaurant nearby and enjoy the taste of your success.
All fishing equipment is included in the price, so you only need to prepare some snacks and drinks. Kids are welcome to join, so turn this into an adventure for the whole family. A blanket for-hire fishing permit is onboard so you don’t need to purchase a license.

Roman let me know that there was a Low pressure depression was trying to form and that it would be best to get out a day ahead of schedule, We were able to put our whole trip together, Squeeze around the storms and catch some fish. Great experience, Just wish they cleaned the catch as that can be a pain for some on vacation that don’t plan ahead to clean fish.

Roman was an absolute blast and got us on fish immediately. The weather was not ideal and we had some areas of rough water and we still managed to just hammer the fish. Everywhere we went, we were on fish. If the bites slowed down. We moved. We weren’t fishing dead water. I highly recommend Roman as a fishing guide if you’re in the area. Very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable. Couldn’t have had a better guide.

I had scheduled a half day trip about a week ago, and unfortunately, due to a back door cold front we were unable to go out. The reason why I am doing a review at all is because of the actions of the captain. He made me aware that there might be a weather problem on Friday on Wednesday, and also told me on Thursday. We decided we were going to see if we could go, leaning on a hope that the wind would blow more north than northeast. I showed up at 6:20 for our 6:30 departure at Cedar Island, and the captain was there, and told me that we couldn't go because of the wind but gave me several options in which we could, which are: a. Go out on Saturday ( I sadly couldn't do this because I had to work) b, Go to Harkers Island and fish for Spanish Mackeral in Beaufort Inlet. (I didn't want to do this because I booked the trip for wreck species and not for mackeral which I have already caught from the shore on this trip) So, unfortunately, we were unable to go out. The reason why I am rating this captain 5 stars is: 1. He was extremely communicative and professional. 2. He could have left a message on my voicemail saying the trip was cancelled, and not been at the launch site at our launch time. I probably wouldn't have received it because my cell service is spotty in Eastern North Carolina. 3. He gave me several options in which we could go out, but unfortunately these were options I couldn't or didn't want to do. 4. He remained professional despite the fact that we couldn't go out. I felt it important to write a review, because things don't always work out, and because Roman was so great with his attitude towards everything that I wanted to give him support for his buisness even though we couldn't go out. I am sure that had we been able to do the wreck fishing trip, I would have had a great time. Please consider going on a trip with Roman. I am sure you will have a fantastic experience.
