TJ BOOM Fishing was founded by Captain TJ. Being a Texan native, he’s been fishing the Lower Laguna Madre since he was a kid. He grew up knowing he’ll be guiding trips in these waters and sharing his knowledge with other people.

Capt. TJ has been featured in publications such as The Texas sportsman tracking outdoors Saltwater angler magazine, Rancho Pisto Pesca Texas coastal Espn radio, and Local Fox. His mission is to teach the future anglers of this sport and the importance of conservation. Capt. TJ is certified with Texas Parks and wildlife as a youth angler instructor and has been certified for 4 years

Your adventure starts on a 24’ Dargel Boat that accommodates up to 6 anglers. This new model was built in 2019 and features the latest 200 HP Suzuki outboard engine. Besides modern navigational equipment, the boat also has a live bait tank.

Explore the area’s inshore waters and target Redfish, Black Drum, Flounder, Speckled Trout, and Mangrove Snapper. Switch between different fishing techniques and see which one gets you the most fish.

Capt. TJ will take care of your fishing equipment, including live bait and lures. He also provides bottled water for the trip and cleans your catch when catching is done. You only need to purchase your fishing license and pack your snacks.

Great Experience

5 Hour Trip on September 13, 2025 • 5 adults

I took my son-in-law and three of his four boys on this trip. We had a fantastic time and the boys all caught fish which was a wonderful experience. That said, I would make certain that you are clear as to payment information. I did pay the $90 reservation fee and expected to pay the rest with a credit card. However, I subsequently learned that our guide could not accept credit cards and we made other arrangements. Aaron was a wonderful guide and he was great with my young grandsons. He was nothing short of OUTSTANDING! I also met TJ and found him to be engaging and gregarious. Aside from the minor "bump in the road", we had a great time. Thank you TJ and Aaron.

Great time with TJ Boom fishing charters and Captain Gibson

We had great time with our fishing guide Captain Gibson on August 4th, 2025. He was personable, friendly, and engaged in conversation. He shared some great fishing stories, area knowledge and history. The weather was great, we caught fish and had a great time on our experience. Would and will definitely recommend TJ Boom Fishing to anyone looking for a good fishing trip. We felt the prices were fair and reasonable and we felt safe and comfortable.

Second trip with TJ!

5 Hour Trip on September 23, 2025 • 2 adults

This is our second trip with Captain TJ. We got our trout limit before 7:45 am and went looking for Reds. We threw artificial and caught and released. We ran into a good school of large reds and hooked up for a good drag pulling Red. Back before noon for another successful trip. WE WILL BE BACK!

Family time is the best time! on July 10, 2025 • 4 adults

We were hosted by Cpt Victor Barerra, long time Port Isabel Guide, and he did a terrific job in showing us how to fish in Laguna Madre. We caught the max allowable ocean trout and we had them cleaned and eaten in no time. Phenomenal experience that we would recommend to anyone.

TJ was phenomenal. We were in fish pretty much all morning and when things slowed, we made a move. Due to recent weather, I don't think any of us had high expectations. TJ had us in fish all morning when many other boats were struggling. When I come back to Padre, I will absolutely book with TJ again. If we had more time this week, I would have booked a second trip. Thanks so much for a great morning
