+53Off Course Charters offers fun and relaxing inshore fishing adventures in the calm waters of the Florida Bay and the Everglades National Park. We target species like Snook, Speckled Trout, Mangrove Snapper, Redfish, Jack Crevalle, Triple Tail and Tarpon. Captain Henry can accommodate everyone from the pro angler to the novice who just wants a fun and relaxing time on the water. You can keep your catch however we do not keep any Snook for conservation reasons.
You will be on a 22 foot Wellcraft Bay boat with a 200hp Yamaha engine. The boat is equipped with a GPS, VHF radio, trolling motor, power pole, comfortable seating and all the necessary safety equipment required by the Coast Guard. All the tackle and fishing gear is included as well as your fishing licenses.
The boat can easily accommodate up to 4 passengers. Backcountry fishing requires a lot of casting, all while standing and balancing yourself on the deck. Having a fairly good balance is important if you want to cast of the deck. For serious anglers who really want to get into skinnier waters I recommend only 1-2 anglers on the boat. That being said, we do welcome families with kids and will do everything possible to make sure everyone has a blast! For safety reasons we do have a weight restriction of max 250 lbs per person and 800 lbs total per group.
Since most of the fishing will be done in the Everglades National Park you will be required to buy a National Park Pass or Everglades Park Pass. They cost $35/group and can be bought online. Active military and veterans can get free passes but they must be bought ahead of time.
We want to make sure everyone stays safe and have a pleasant time while on the boat. Therefore, we have a zero alcohol/drug policy on the boat. Also, no smoking or tobacco products allowed.

Flats Fishing from Key Largo
4 Hour - Morning Fishing Trip on December 31, 2024
Captain Henry was waiting for us on the dock on time. He had called us the night before with an option to reschedule for another day as the catch had been slow. Unfortunately we could not shift our time but was a nice offer to ensure we had a good trip. We got on our way quickly and did a quick stop to gather some live bait. It was a beautiful morning and we hit several spots and as soon as the bite was slow we moved on. It was great to see some of the Everglades area and we had a crocodile encounter that was thrilling but Captain Henry kept us safe while enjoying the wildlife. He was quick to get the fish off our lines and bait us up to keep the action going. The bite was a little slow at times as expected but had some real hot spots too. We got all of our time in and a little more and it was a great morning on the water. The keepers were few so that was the only disappointment. Not for the lack of trying. Captain dressed our trout catch at the dock and it was delicious at dinner later. It was fun trip for us four that made some lasting memories. Recommended.

Made my first saltwater trip
4 Hour - Morning Fishing Trip on December 17, 2024
I took this trip to get my first salt water experience while vacationing in the Florida Keys. I booked a reef fishing trip. Caption Henry reached out days before the trip and warned me the ocean conditions were poor and suggested a different date and a change to the backcountry trip. The result was catching a ton of jacks and snapper and almost landing a 15 lb Jack to score a sweet photo opportunity. I totally recommend this charter for their professionalism, experience, and communication approaching the trip.

Great private fishing trip in Key Largo

Capt. Henry has a very nice, professional operation, but one that delivers a more personal fishing experience. His equipment is good. He knows the area very well. He communicates well. We told him what we wanted from the trip and he made it happen. In the end, we caught three types of fish. We kept a couple fish to eat for lunch. Everything else was for the sport, and the fish were released in perfect shape back into the waters. Would go again if we come back to the area.

Novice wants to make if Family Fishing Trip
4 Hour - Morning Fishing Trip on July 25, 2024
My wife was not sure about going out nor what to expect. Captain Henry was very understanding. He took the time to explain everything and show us how to correctly fish. He started by catching live bate. Fish only go after live bate. We then went deeper into the Everglades. Upon arrival at a spot, he put all the bate on, non-stop. Within minutes we both caught a Snook each. Too bad it is not in season. We took pictures and released them. We were there for hours. Kept those that met the criteria and released the others. At one point every cast was either a nible or a catch. It was a perfect day. We had booked a morning trip, but on Captain Henry's suggestion, we changed to late afternoon/evening as the fishing was better. Captain Henry cleaned our catch. He told us how to cooked the fish. Simple but WOW, delicious. We had so much fun that we will be back with the family.

4 Hour - Morning Fishing Trip on July 8, 2024
We fished with Captain Henry in July of 2024. Our group was a family of four, including two children ages 11 and 12. Captain Henry was very professional and prepared. Communication was excellent before the trip. Captain Henry's boat was clean, well organized and his gear was ready to go! We had a short ride to our fishing spot and immediately started catching fish. The kids had fun and we put several fish in the boat...then Capt. Henry said "Let's go catch some Snook" which we did.
