If you’re ready to have fun fishing in Wilmington, we’ve got you covered with Whipsaw Charters.

Great Barracuda, Amberjack, Cobia, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, king Mackerel, and more depending on conditions.

On these trips, it’s common to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.

Trips with Whipsaw Charters are kid-friendly, so the whole family can come and unplug for the day! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are never a bad idea so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!

Your fishing machine for the day is a 42’ Offshore sport fishing with capacity for 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible.

Your captain will provide rods and reels, along with lures.

A First Mate will be there to make sure everything is running smoothly. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.

The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. If you don’t know what to expect, ask the captain.

Don’t leave home without sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Now and then the fish might get away, but a day on the water never should. So make it happen, with Whipsaw Charters!

Incredible Day on the Watet

VERIFIED

4 Hour Nearshore Trip (AM) on August 11, 2024

Highly recommend!!! Captain Robbie and First Mate Kyle took great care of my family of four. Live bait was used and handled for us. Each person in our group could several fish. Captain Robbie made sure we were in the right areas for catching. The 4 hour morning adventure was perfect for us. My husband caught a shark! Sea bass and white grunt were most common catches. Everything we caught was released. We even saw a sea turtle swimming by. It was incredible experience at a reasonable price. I will definitely be booking again.

We had a blast on this fishing trip! Robby and Kyle were so friendly and professional. We had three kids on the trip and each of them caught fish and had an absolute blast, even though it was foggy and not the most ideal conditions. We will definitely be back!

4 Hour Nearshore Trip (AM) on July 4, 2025

Captain Robbie and his first mate are seemingly well seasoned and nice folk. Our group enjoyed the small morning trip for the time together and the views, however the price did not seem worth it. We had some expectations based on the charter's exciting description; some variety of fish, trolling and bottom fishing, and going offshore up to 8 miles out. What we experienced was a slow drive out, trolling for Spanish Mackerel for a few hours only 2 miles offshore, then returning quickly before 10am. Robbie knew we had booked another trip the following day and informed us when we first arrived that we would probably only get one trip in due to inclement weather the next day. He did not offer the potential of deeper sea fishing and potentially making our first and only day out more memorable. We know fishing doesn't always work out as we plan, but making the trip from out of town to be left feeling our captain didnt make the best effort he could made us feel like this trip was not worth the time, effort, or money. We appreciate the captain and his first mate, but we cannot truthfully give him a 5 star review.
