Capt. Andrew’s Inshore Charters

Fernandez Street
Laguna Vista TX, United States

Capt. Andrew’s Inshore Charters takes you fishing around the waters of Lower Laguna Madre. If you’re looking for year-round fisheries, a local captain and a variety of styles, this is the charter for you. Capt. Andrew knows the local waters and will help you get large table fare to brag about.

You can fish for really big Redfish and Speckeld Trout. There are also Flounder, Snook, and Sharks. Whether it’s sight casting, or fishing the spots with ankle deep waters all the way up to 50 ft deep spots, you can get it all here. As for the techniques, Capt. Andrew offers spinning, baitcasting, fly and trolling combos. You can also head out a bit further and target Kingfish, or Red Snapper in state waters.

Whichever trip you choose, Capt. Andrew will help make your time on the water productive. He’s grown up in South Padre Island, and has picked up a few tricks and tips to help you get a fish of a lifetime. He knows his way around these waterways and will gladly cater to novice anglers and veteran fishermen.

You will be fishing from a 24’ Shallow Sport Boats vessel with a modified Vee. She is equipped with a 200 HP Evinrude E-tec engine and can reach speeds of up to 40 knots. The boat is fitted with GPS, a sonar, and a VHF radio. She has a trolling motor, two live wells, and an ice box, and the required safety gear. Up to six anglers can come along. The boat stores all the fishing gear and accessories, sponsored by Lew’s and Orvis. Children are welcome and there are life jackets for them onboard in two different sizes.

The captain will supply all the gear, lures, and can also provide live bait, at an extra charge. Fly fishing gear is also an option, but you must let the captain know before the trip. Make sure to bring a valid fishing license, a cap, sunglasses, food and drinks of choice, sunblock, and light clothes. Remember to bring your camera to get a nice photo of your day. Once you’re ready, hop onboard and let Capt. Andrew lead the way.

Andrew is a nice fellow but, it was not a great trip.
The boat in the picture is not the boat he has, one of the reasons I picked this charter over others WAS the boat in the ad. His boat is a lot smaller than the one pictured. Also, He said his anchor had broken a couple days earlier and he forgot to repair it?  So we had no anchor to hold the boat in one spot, and there was a strong current and wind. We drifted fast.  We did manage to tie to a marker post for a while
and catch two small keeper redfish.  I talked to a different charter captain the day before and saw a two person limit of big trout he was cleaning for his clients. His client said He and his wife limited in an hour and then started upsizing as they caught bigger ones.  When I mentioned my upcoming trip to the captain with Andrew he rolled his eyes, and gave me his card.

Sorry you feel the need to write a not so great review. We upgraded boats this year and I will not be taking down old photos including my old boat. If you look at my fishing booker page it list the size, make and model of my boat. Fishing is fishing one day can be great others not so much. We did very well for the weather and tide that day. We were one of very few boats out fishing in that weather. I will note we caught two snook this day as well which is a feat in itself for Texas waters. Photo included was two days before. Maybe next time you’ll have better weather.

The fish were not biting for anyone, including all the boats in the bay we came across yet Captain Andrew was still able to put us on some fish and the targeted species.  Fishing is fishing with good days and bad but when you have a friendly capt. that can hold a conversation and answer any and all questions with a knowledgeable response it makes a world of difference.  Been fishing my whole life and coming from a distance I highly recommend Captain Andrew.
