Finest Kind – Family Friendly
The Finest Kind is a luxury custom-built 53’ G&S sportfisher powered by twin 500hp Scania continuous duty marine diesels, which can accommodate up to 22 passengers per trip. The boat is air conditioned and features a bathroom with shower on board, while the dining area is furnished with a microwave, refrigerator and a freezer. There’s also satellite TV as well as Starlink and stereo installed on board for your enjoyment
As for navigation, the vessel is outfitted with an assortment of quality fish finding and marine electronics, such as Furuno Color Fishfinder, Furuno 96NM Radar, Furuno TZTouch2 GPS/Chartplotter, Furuno SSB, Nobletec TimeZero high resolution bottom charting, FLIR thermal night vision, Simrad sonar and (2) VHF radios. The boat’s sleeping facilities can accommodate 8 fishermen for an overnight trip. The Finest Kind is conveniently located in Destin, Florida at Harborwalk Marina.
Capt. Jason Mikel, a 4th generation fisherman specializes in accommodating larger groups and catering to their angling preferences, be it bottom fishing, offshore trolling or a relaxed family excursion. Whether you’re a novice or a seasoned angler, or just someone who enjoys spending time on the water, the Finest Kind crew will do everything they can to make sure you leave the dock fully satisfied.
The Finest Kind offers a variety of customizable charter options, any of which can include bottom fishing for Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack, Trigerfish and more, trolling for Kingfish, Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Tuna and Marlin, or a combination of the two. The 4-6 hour trips are designed for the novice anglers as well as those on a budget, and with both morning and afternoon departures, they’re meant to fit any hectic vacation schedule. 8-10 hour trips open up more options for the avid anglers to target larger game fish, while 12-18 hour excursions are meant for the deep sea enthusiasts, and usually involve deep water bottom fishing and bluewater trolling for a variety of pelagics.

4 Hour Trip – Summer (AM)
Excellent Choice
We booked with Finest Kind and Captain Jason, and crewmate Nick for a family fishing trip. We had our four adult children and a couple of friends, plus me and my husband. The ship was great! Plenty of room for all eight of us to fish all at the same time. Lots of bait and the captain took us to really great fishing holes. We caught a ton of Vermilion snapper and some trigger fish and a few other random fish, we also caught two sharks one…was a giant bull shark about 400 pounds! Both went back into the water. The fishing was great, but having a nice air conditioned indoor cabin to retreat to if somebody wasn’t feeling well was really prime for our experience. Bathroom on board as well. Book with Captain Jason on the Finest Kind and you will not regret it!

An Unforgettable Fishing Experience- Highly Recommend!
We had an absolutely fantastic 5-hour fishing trip! Right at our first stop, we caught enough Vermillion Snapper in just 10 minutes to feed a party of 10—it was incredible. What stood out the most was the Captain and mate’s deep respect for responsible fishing. They were very mindful not to overfish and made sure we only kept what we planned to eat, which I truly appreciated. After hitting our snapper limit, the excitement didn’t stop—we reeled in a shark and several Amberjacks. Every spot we visited had consistent action; the bites never stopped! It was an exciting and action-packed day on the water. The boat was impressively spacious—plenty of room for all nine of us to fish comfortably at the same time without ever feeling crowded. Having fished with several different charters in Destin over the years, I can confidently say this crew stands out. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking for a memorable and responsible fishing adventure!

Great fun and TONS of fish!
Outstanding job by Jason and his crew. We did a five-hour trip on 12/28/24 with 9 relatives from ages 9 to 74, and with deep sea experience from zero to hero. Fish hit the hooks within seconds of each stop. Jason's crew was terrific, friendly and as involved as could be. The equipment was set-up perfectly at each stop. The ship was beautifully outfitted and the cabin offered refuge for resting (or recovering from some rough seas.) But best of all, they took care of the 9 year old, standing behind him, encouraging him, and helping him reel in Red Snapper and even an Amberjack! That boy was ecstatic! Our family of 32 ate Red Snapper for 2 nights. We'll definitely book this boat next year! Well done Captain Jason and crew!
