The crew of Reel King Charters welcomes you aboard! They are hands-on fishing charter and do their best to help you teach different techniques used to make the trip successful. Here to guide and help you as much as needed from lure selection to netting. They will definitely take time for pictures and capture moments that last a lifetime!
You'll be fishing on a 20' boat named Hooker, which is part of Team Reel King. The boat is a Lund Tyee Grandsport Magnum, built for the Great Lakes. Powered by a 150 HP Yamaha engine, with a 9.9hp kicker and Minnkota Ulterra I-pilot. Onboard state of the art navigation and safety equipment will keep you on fish while safely enjoying the day.
Depart the dock and take a short ride out to the main Lake, during which the captain will give you a short safety briefing. Batten down the hatches and you're off to the fishing grounds! Your main targets of the day are Yellow Perch, Walleye, and Smallmouth Bass.
Please bring a small cooler with your drinks and food and a big cooler to take your fish home (which can stay in your car). Sunscreen, clothing, and a valid Ohio fishing license (online sale with a screenshot is legal). Since this is a smoke and drug free vessel, feel free to bring an ecig, vape, etc. if you will need it.
After a successful day of fishing, you're welcome to take your fish with you to clean at home or take them to the local cleaners (this option varies depending on return time of trip). The fish cleaners are a few miles down the road and offer free pick up at the dock (this varies by departure location and return time).

Our family had an absolutely incredible time with Real King Charters! From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of amazing. Captain Craig is a true professional who goes above and beyond to make sure everyone has a great time. I brought my fiancé, Aimee, and my 6-year-old son along, and Captain Craig was phenomenal with us. He patiently walked us through everything we needed to know and made us feel so comfortable on the water. The highlight of the trip was when he helped my son reel in an absolute monster of a fish—the look on my boy’s face was priceless, and it’s a memory we will cherish forever. On top of that, we caught so many fish throughout the day! If you are looking for a top-tier fishing charter that is family-friendly, knowledgeable, and guarantees a fantastic time, look no further than Captain Craig and Real King Charters. After a canceled trip on a different charter boat company due to engine problems, Captain Craig answered our call and got us out on the water the same day. We caught our limit of walleye in just a few hours. Really appreciate him being able to accommodate us on such short notice. Would highly recommend him.

Met Captain Craig at the dock with my 9 and 13 yr old grandsons and off we went. Due to the wind we headed to the east of Kelly Island for some protection it seemed pretty rough but looking at the kids with the grins and smiles it was gonna be a good day. Once we got to the spot he put them to work helping him get setup then off we went. Craig took the time to explain trolling and the equipment he was using . Once we got onto the fish they got to alternate reeling them. By the end we had 10 walleye and 7 perch. It was an awesome day and definitely would recommend a trip and already thinking about another. Thanks for the trip

Craig was an excellent captain…he introduced us to both trolling and casting on Lake Erie, making sure we caught a variety of fish, and had fun during the trip. Would definitely go back out on this boat with this captain on Lake Erie!

I have been fishing my whole life. Started fishing with family on inland lakes in northern Indiana. This led to fishing Lake Michigan with my grandfather in my early teens. Then we moved the boat to Bass Haven Marina on Lake Erie. Spent the next decade casting for Walleye and eventually, taking the trolling skills learned from Lake Michigan and applied them to Lake Erie as the water cleaned up. I spent off the water time raising a family, farming, in management, maintenance, and eventually being self-employed. My family operates C & K Greenhouses in the spring, on our farm. This allows me the opportunity to charter full-time during the summer. Reel King Charters LLC. is a family business founded in 2018 by brothers Capt Doug and Capt Craig Rothgeb. I am excited to fulfill a childhood dream of being a professional fisherman that can share a lifetime of knowledge with both the new and experienced anglers on the boat.

You can cancel or modify your booking up to 3 days before the trip date, free of charge. If you cancel or modify your booking later, or fail to show up, you'll forfeit 100% of what you've paid.
