With over 35 years of fishing experience, Captain Ivan has led spinning and fly fishing trips in Mongolia, Indonesia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Serbia, and more. He’s been a certified EFFA Casting Instructor and Guide since 2005 and knows these waters like the back of his hand.
Depending on the season, you’ll have the chance to catch Pike Perch (Zander), Northern Pike, Grayling, Brown Trout, Hucho, and other prized species. On boat trips, jig fishing is a favorite technique.
Your trip takes place aboard a custom 18’ Mars aluminum fishing boat, designed for comfort and performance. It accommodates up to 3 guests and comes fully equipped with all the gear you’ll need — rods, reels, and lures included.
No fishing license is required, so all you need to do is show up and enjoy the day. Some fish may need to be released due to regulations, and Captain Ivan will guide you through local rules and best practices.
What to Bring:

8 Hour Trip – Danube River Zander
Zander fishing with Ivan
I had a fantastic fishing trip with Mars Fishing and Captain Ivan. He’s a true professional—friendly, punctual, and fully prepared with top-notch gear for targeting Zander. The boat itself is first-rate, equipped with advanced electronics and a modern fishfinder that put us right on the fish. My colleague and I caught four Zander, three of which were keepers (including a 3 kg beauty), while fishing the Sava and Danube Rivers around central Belgrade. Ivan knew exactly where to position us to get a strike every time, and jigging proved to be the perfect technique. Since it was cold out, we took a mid-day break at a local restaurant for a beer and some warm fish stew before heading back out. Overall, it was an exceptional experience. We’re already planning another trip with Ivan—this time to Mongolia! Highly recommended.
