Captain Michael Rosso will meet you in Wanchese and take you to some of the best inshore and nearshore fishing spots. Experienced and friendly, Captain Michael will make sure you enjoy your stay on board and return with a good catch. Join in and create some great memories fishing!
Old School Fishing Charters features a 21’ Carolina Skiff Ultra Elite Series boat called Touch of Grey. She can fit 6 guests and is equipped with a 150 HP Suzuki four stroke outboard engine. It also boasts a Minnkota Terova trolling motor, an 8’ Power Pole shallow water anchor, Simrad Pro 9 GPS / fishfinder / depth finder, and a Northstar VHF radio. There’s also an ice-box you can use and a livewell.
You’ll go after Black Seabass, Flounder, Weakfish, Sheepshead, Striped Bass, Redfish, and many more species. To attract them, you can use light tackle bottom fishing, trolling, spinning, jigging, popping, and drift fishing. Feel free to bring kids on your trip as well as to keep the fish you catch.
Captain Michael provides all the fishing tackle manufactured in the US by Penn, live bait, lures, and he also covers you for fishing licenses. Just bring your favorite food and drinks before you depart and you’ll be set to go.
Feel free to message the captain about when you want to fish and how long you want to fish. He's flexible and reasonable! Having lived and worked on the water for 20 years, the captain can give you a tour of the Nothern OBX from the perspective of the Sound waters.

Citation sheepshead
Fishing with Captain Mike on an overcast day, caught so some bait fish and headed out to the old bridge for trout fishing. I caught a Citation sheepshead, it was huge fish. The fight was a LOT OF FUN, more than I expected. Everyone was excited, huge fish. Finished the day off with some trout. GREAT TIME, going back in October.

Great trip
We didn't catch many fish, but it was an excellent trip. He moved to several spots and the fish just weren't cooperating. Mike was very personable and informative. We had young, old, and some inexperienced anglers in our family group and everyone had a great time. His boat even had a small step, which was beyond helpful when bringing our handicapped, elderly father. Some captains are arrogant or impatient with novice anglers, but Mike was patient and down to earth and made certain everyone was included and having a great time. We take a charter every year and always choose a different captain so we have a different experience each time, however I will definitely rebook with Mike.

Captain Mike was a ton of fun!
We of course chose the deathly of hot days to go which did impact our catches, but Mike kept us moving around and trying different techniques. Took us all the way down to the last hour of our last day, but my son finally pulled in a 27” drum! We caught some bass and Mike caught a blue fish otherwise. He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Being a retired teacher, definitely good with kids.

Capt. Mike - friendly fish finder
Great trip with Capt. Mike who know is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the local waters in OBX. He came prepared with live bait and put us on fish within 30 minutes. He was a patient casting coach with my family and made our trip both educational and relaxing. I would highly recommend Old School Charters on The Touch of Grey.

Great Trip
This was a nice fishing trip for my son and I. Capt Mike was very engaged and helpful with some extra tips. Easy to find and the weather wasn't bad. Would have liked more fish but we had to save some for next time. 😉 Recommend Capt Mike for an easy and relaxing day.
