Captain Rodney was great.  He suggested we move our time and so thankful he did since it was so cold.  Fishing spots were picturesque.  He got to teach me how to cast while my husband fished.  Didn’t catch a lot but had a great time.  And I caught the fish with the most spots so I claim victory. 

Bonus was we got to watch eagles fly above and land in the tree where we were fishing.  Then we saw dolphins playing going from one fishing spot to the next.

You’ll feel safe and comfortable with Capt. Rodney! I had a party of four and did a 4 hour trip, two of which were very new to fishing. From the moment we arrived, until we left, we all had a blast! We saw dolphins while crusing the short trip to the hole. We spent the whole time with poles in the water and had our first fish on board after just a few minutes of the first cast. Lucky for us we saw dolphins feeding in the area we fished and got to see their hunting strategies, which is very cool being a great lakes fisherman! Capt. Rodney managed the stress for us, baiting hooks, re-tying lines, and coaching us on technique. I will absolutely be returning to Capt. Rodney and Southern Summers Charters for my next trip to Hilton Head! We caught about 15-20 fish, mostly Reds, but a few bluefish and ladyfish, a grouper and sea trout, and many more missed! Our experience met and exceeded expectations and am glad I chose Southern Summers for my first charter.

Captain Rodney was on time and ready to go with rods rigged and bait on board.  We were welcomed by name and got a brief explanation of where safety equipment is stored, what we would be fishing for, and how we would be doing it.  Captain Rodney was social throughout the trip and we had a lot of good conversation.  Being a teacher and a football coach, Rodney did a great job of “coaching” finer techniques to help us be more successful.  We fished hard right until quitting time (not pulling up 20-30 minutes before quitting time in order to get back to the dock like many other guides do).  We were allowed to cast our own poles and had the freedom to try different approaches if we wanted to.  I appreciated the flexibility to do our own thing.
We saw a lot of cool places and caught fish.  It was a great trip and I would highly recommend a trip with Captain Rodney and Southern Summers Charters.

Fantastic trip! Rodney was ready to go, very knowledgeable, and very personable. We did inshore fishing and Captain Rodney kept us on the fish and took us to some different spots to keep it interesting. We had good luck and caught more fish than we could keep track of. On top of that we saw dolphin, rays jumping, and a pair of bald eagles. We will be booking again in the future. Truly one of the best trips we’ve been on.

Captain Rodney (Coach) did a great job putting us right on the sharks and made the whole trip enjoyable showing us dolphins, sea turtles, and various other sea creature. Don’t waste your money on a dolphin trip when you can go fishing with Rodney and see all the same sights. Clean boat great gear and a great experience. Rodney is a head football coach also so he handles kids great and has them involved every step of the way. Highly recommend Rodney’s Charter and will absolutely use him every time we visit!!
