8 Hour Trip – Inshore/Nearshore on June 9, 2025
Wife and I booked a full day with Captain John, hoping to get out onto the ocean and hook into some bigger fish like Amberjack or Cobia. We got out there and it ended up being way too rough before we got to the wreck we were trying to get to. Captain John suggested we go closer to shore for some trolling. Wife ended up getting sea sick so we took her back to the dock and headed back out. We tried another wreck that was closer to shore but once again the wind and waves were not on our side. We decided to try closer to the inlet to drift and get into bluefish. Caught a couple but nothing to really get your heart pumping. Had about 3 hours left in the day at this point so Captain John said he knows of a spot to go for some good sized Red Drum. I said let's do it cause at this point anything was better than near nothing. We dropped anchor somewhere in the sound and tossed out 4 lines. Within minutes we got on our first red drum. Nice slot sized fish for keeping, about 25 inches. Tossed lines back out and it HITS. I reel and fight this fish for what feel like 10 minutes on this HUGE red drum. Managed to get her in and came to over 43 inches. My biggest fish ever. I cannot stress enough how well Captain John did his utmost best to get me on some bigger fish. I would totally book him again the next time I'm down.

Captain John and first mate Kaylee was wonderful even though the fish were not biting as good as we would have liked. They kept trying. We did get to see amazing show of dolphins This is our fourth year out with captain John and usually he can get us on the fish. Just remember in fishing you don’t alway get the big ones. Thanks so much and see you again

Had a great day on the water with Salty Fishing Charters. Our booked Captain was feeling under the weather so his relief Captain ( His Daughter) and Son as first mate took us out! We did ok.. a bit slow 1 keeper and a few shorts! But that is fishing!! Zero complaints! I took my 9 year old daughter out and she had a blast and was fascinated and excited to see a female Captain! Captain John you have raised 2 wonderful kids! We had a blast!! I run my own boat on the Chesapeake Bay so no stranger to fishing and I would recommend this boat to anyone looking for a family friendly charter!

Captain John was great, good conversation, safe boating, a lot of effort to find fish, even though it was hot and fish were not biting across all boats, he worked all over the waters and we landed some mackerel and bluefish…..all in all a great day!
