Gale Anne is located in Atlantic Beach North Carolina and offers to show you a memorable time in these waters. The crew provides a safe fishing experience, whether it be a first-time family group enjoying themselves or an avid fisherman going after more enjoyment in the ocean.
Capt. Doug Mathis has been fishing the Crystal Coast both commercial and charter for 30 years. And first mate Caleb "COOLWHIP" Rivers will do their best to make sure you have a fun day full of fishing. This involves 4 to 8-hour trips, mainly fishing for Spanish Mackerel, King Mackerel, Dolphin, Bluefish, Seabass, Amberjack, Bonito, and Albacore depending on the season and conditions on the day. On these trips, you can expect to use techniques such as light tackle, heavy tackle, bottom fishing, trolling, big game fishing, handline, jigging, and spinning.
Your fishing adventure starts on the Gale Anne, the pride of the sport fishing fleet here on the Southern Outer Banks. She was constructed and custom built at Shell Point on Harkers Island North Carolina in 1964 and has been putting smiles, with memories, on people's faces ever since. She is berthed at the Captain Stacy Fishing Center with all the amenities available to go with any perfect fishing trip. This boat is a 42' Myron Harris craft that can safely take up to 6 anglers. She comes with a clean toilet, icebox, 4 fighting chairs and a crew that will make your experience a memorable one.
All rods, reels, bait and terminal tackle are included in the price so you can focus on what really matters, fishing! Your trip will include all the necessary fishing licenses for the day. There is a fish cleaning service available at the dock. The fish cleaners will fillet your catch for you to take home at the end of the trip.

Amazing morning on the Gale Anne
Six of us got up for the 0600 adventure with Capt Doug and First Mate Caleb aboard the Gale Anne. We arrived a few minutes before 6 and were off before the hour hit. The boat had plenty of ice to cool down our beverages and we had lines in the water by 645. The Captain found the spot and Caleb set the rods so the fish were flying into the boat. Everyone had a fish in the first 10 minutes and the Spanish mackerel hits kept coming. The guys were entertaining throughout and the morning flew by. Back on land the Capt fileted our haul and we were on to the rest of the day before the real heat set in.

Shark trip
Great time!
Even though we didn’t catch the big sharks, we had a fantastic time. The wind was blowing and just making for some rather unsafe swells. We had a little guy on board. The Captain made the decision to be safe than sorry, and we stayed closer to shore. My little guy had a blast reeling in croaker, Spanish mackerel, baby sharks, and other types. He reeled in all kinds! Captain and First Mate were great with the kiddo; joked, asked him lots of questions, made him feel cool. I would highly recommend these guys to anyone looking for a relaxed trip!

Awesome trip!
What a great trip! Captain Doug contacted us the day prior, recommended we go out a little earlier and from that point on, every thing Doug and Caleb had us do led to more fish! We caught fish early on close to the dock, then headed out and caught a ton of fish. So much that Doug had us switch to going for shark and of course each one of our four boys reeled one in. Doug and Caleb were friendly, answered all of our boys questions, and were great to fish with. Highly recommend!

More Than Just A Great Morning of Fishing
Capt. Doug and First Mate Caleb put this Father and his two teenage boys on the fish early! Can't thanks these guys enough for the smiles on on my boys faces on their first Nearshore trip. It was definitely a morning of memories that we'll never forget. In a day and age where the phones seem to rule supreme and there's always something to do or someplace to be, I'm greatful for our experience on the Gale Anne. Many thanks guys!!

Summer Trip
Captain Doug and his mate DJ are without a doubt are a good time. We caught tons of fish and talked trash the whole time. Very easy going and fun to be around. They both have big personalities and keep you laugh and entertained. Experienced or not they’ll help you put fish on the boat. Had a blast out there couldn’t have asked for a better 1st time experience!
