Ocean Hunter Charters welcomes you to the stunning waters of Homer.
These waters are known for Halibut, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Black Seabass, Cod, Lingcod, and more – with any luck, you’ll have tight lines in no time. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using heavy tackle.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Snacks are never a bad idea to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
You’ll be fishing aboard a 28’ Koffler aluminum fishing boat that can carry up to 6 passengers. It has downriggers and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. Capt. Keith will provide rods and reels for you, as well as lures.
You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. It’s always wise to bring bottled water, sunscreen (non-spray), and sunglasses. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

8 Hour Trip – Halibut/Black Rock on August 9, 2025
We were told this captain never came back to port without Halibut, maybe we would be his first. But, Kieth worked his butt off, keep us out of the seasick causing rough water and we limited our. If I could rate this trip higher than a Five. I'd certainly do it.

Keith worked really hard at putting us on fish and we were pretty successful. He did a great job of educating us on the weather and currents so we were able to fish on the calmest water possible and enjoy our experience. We’d certainly book again.

8 Hour Trip – Halibut/Salmon on June 23, 2025
It was a random slow day & we could clearly hear many other captains struggling to find the halibut but Captain worked hard and didn’t stop to get us on fish. We caught our limit of black rockfish & halibut! We had our 9 year old son with and Captain was so patient and helpful!

If you want the warm fuzzies go to another boat. If you want to catch fish go with Captain Keith. Boat was well used, clean and smooth riding. Captain Keith knew what he was doing. We caught halibut and cod had fun and that’s what I wanted.

8 Hour Trip – Halibut/Black Rock on July 10, 2025
It was our first trip to Alaska, we picked Ocean Hunters based on reviews and wanting Halibut and Rock Fish. We had a great time, we caught our Halibut and lots of Rock Fish. We also toured Seldovia and saw whales. Captain Keith was really great, easy to work with, patient with our lack of experience and skill. We Down side: Boat is small and only 1 forward facing seat. Others were side facing. Bathroom situation was rough. Functional, but rough.
