One of the things that is unique about this charter service is the versatility in locations to fish. Places you can go fishing include the Indian River Lagoon, Banana River Lagoon, Sebastian Inlet, Port Canaveral, and the beaches in between.
Here in the Space Coast, each season presents new and exciting opportunities. It’s great to pitch live and artificial baits under mangroves, docks, and other structures within the river. This tactic typically provides trophy Snook, Redfish, Trout, and Tarpon year round. This way of fishing also comes with the excitement of the unknown. You never know when a huge Snook or Redfish is going to come blowing out of a mangrove, and explode on your bait!
In the wintertime and springtime, the water quality in both lagoons typically improves, which allows for some exciting sight fishing for monster reds in the Cocoa Beach area. Sight fish Tripletail and Cobia, or go after Snook.

Full Day Trip on June 11, 2025
Went on an 8 hr trip. Captain East is top notch. He put us on fish all day. His equipment and boat were well kept, clean, and performed great. He was great with my son, patient, knowledgeable, and worked his tail off for us. We will book with him again if we ever come back. We caught the grand slam and other species as well. My son is still talking about it. Can't recommend him enough. Fishing doesn't mean tou will catch something, but Cheyne will put in the work to give you any opportunity there is to get on fish and give you a memorable experience. A+++++

The Best Charter & Captain, Period.
Half Day Trip (AM) on March 1, 2025
My father-in-law and I did a 4 hour in-shore trip with Captain Cheyne. Both of us are big fisherman, but that’s back up in Indiana where fishing is much different. We wanted to take a trip to see what fishing in Florida was like and boy, it did not disappoint. Having done probably 10 or so chartered trips in the past, Captain Cheyne and Southern Mayhem was the best experience by far! He had like 3-4 different live baits we used for different fish. He showed us different techniques they use down here and He put us on the fish literally all day! We got tired from all the reeling in all the fish. Do not let his young age fool you, Captain Cheyne was more knowledgeable about the area and the fishing than anyone I have ever met. He was on the spot taking all the fish off so we could get right back in the water. He also filleted all our keepers up at the end so we could take them back and cook them up! Nothing better than eating the fish you catch later that day! Oh I almost forgot, prior to the trip, I wanted some advice of what kind of set up to use on my telescopic rod while fishing off the channel at the Air BNB we were staying and even prior to the trip, Captain Cheyne was quick to respond and tell me what I needed to bring. The day after the charter, while using Captain Cheyne’s advice, we caught another 15-20 fish of all kinds!!! Captain Cheyne’s boat was also one of the smoothest rides ever, even in choppy waters. Next time we are back in the area, I’ll definitely be calling Captain Cheyne and doing another charter. This guy is the real deal and one of the premier charter captains in the area. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, but he’s also really fun to hang out with and easy to talk to. I would rate this experience 10/10! Literally the best fishing experience. 3/4 Day Trip on April 28, 2025
I had the pleasure of heading out and chasing some inshore species with Cheyne. The boat is clean and comfortable and the water was ice cold. After loading the boat with some bait, we headed out to the mangroves. We put a nice trout in the boat, and then I proceeded to have a personal battle with the mangroves. Broke off 3 really nice redfish, saw a ton of great FL wildlife and the weather couldn’t have been better. Cheyne worked his ass off, the redfish were just smarter than his client today. I would 1000% recommend Southern Mayhem Charters to everyone.

2 Hour Inshore Special on October 13, 2024
We were Captain Cheyenne's first Charter 2 days after hurricane Milton. He honestly advised us of the difficulties and what to expect. He gave us the full option of backing out or giving it a try. And was willing to work with us that we were all treated fairly. We continued our Charter with him and was rewarded with two great fishing days. The water was extremely dirty and was stacked against us but he found areas that produce tarpon, redfish, giant Snook we caught three other varieties of fish and could not have ass for anything more. He was extremely accommodating. His personality is awesome. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient. I've been on a lot of charters and this has ranked as one of my best ever under the most unlikely circumstances. I can't give enough accolades. Being born and raised near the great waters of Cocoa Beach, I have always had a burning passion for fishing and spending my time on the water. I started at a young age riding bikes around my local neighborhoods in search of catching that prized fish. This search became a fascination for me that only grew bigger and bigger as I aged. Most of my fishing experience has been in the Indian River Lagoon and in the Banana River, as well as fishing offshore out of Port Canaveral for pelagic species. Spending so much time on these waters has taught me how to pickup on patterns and really understand how to target trophy fish such as Snook, Tarpon, Redfish, and Trout. I have spent years learning how to fish these local waterways and it has been a dream of mine to pass this knowledge along to the next generation of young anglers.
