Ruff's Fishing Charters promises a day full of fishing and fun in the Gulf of Mexico. Meet Captain Jonathan Ruffin in Venice, LA, and discover the area's beautiful offshore waters full of many different species waiting to be caught. The captain will know where the hotspots are and will do his best to provide an enjoyable and productive trip. Choose a date and join him aboard for your next fishing adventure in the Bayou State!
The boat you'll be fishing from is a 32' Contender center console big enough to comfortably take up to 5 anglers. The boat runs on twin 300 HP Suzuki engines that can reach speeds of 45 knots.
As for the fish species you can catch on your trip, there's plenty of choice. You can expect to encounter Amberjack, Cobia, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Scamp Grouper, Mangrove Snapper, Red Snapper, and Yellowfin Tuna, depending on the season. The choice is even bigger when it comes to the techniques you can use to attract and catch these prized species. You can utilize light tackle and heavy tackle to try bottom fishing, big game fishing, trolling, spinning, jigging, popping, as well as drift fishing.
Capt. Jonathan will take care of all the fishing rods, reels, tackle, live bait, and lures. If you decide to keep your catch, the captain can even clean and fillet it for you at the end of the trip at no extra charge, although tips are welcome. Kids are welcome to join aboard, so there's fun for the whole family!
A note from the captain: fuel cost is not included in the price. This is usually $400-$700 depending on fuel prices and what you fish for.

My group of four fished with CA Jonathan on Thursday 19 Oct 2023. Jonathan has a great set up in his Contender boat and rod set up. He was early for pick up at the dock and was very accommodating on what we expected from the trip. We caught eight very nice yellowfin tuna, multiple barracuda and a few big sharks. The one thing that stands out for me as a customer is this; our trip lasted eleven hours and CA Jonathan NEVER took a break. He constantly moved for us the entire time. A relentless and extremely devoted fisherman. We will definitely be back onboard with him again. Thanks Jonathan!! Great Trip
Probably our best day of fishing ever. We caught limits of tuna, red snapper and cobia, plus some bonus mangrove snappers. Jonathan's knowledge and experience were great. He put us on the fish and made sure we were ready to get them in the boat.
Put us on the fish. Caught many new species. Broke many PB. Learned different techniques
