1231 New Jersey 109, Cape May, NJ 08204, United States

Common Sense Sportfishing runs angling trips out of Cape May and offers to show you what the local fishery is all about.

Capt. Clint is here to get you on some fish, and to make sure you have fun doing it. You’ll be using techniques like bottom fishing, trolling, and drift fishing, depending on what you’re going after. As part of their 4 to 15-hour trips, you can target species like Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Marlin, Swordfish, Tilefish, depending on the current season and weather conditions.

You’ll be fishing from a 38’ Hatteras boat with enough room for up to 6 anglers at any single time. It also includes a toilet, AC, ice box, and a fighting chair.

When it comes to rods, reels, and terminal tackle, everything you need is included in the price. As for fishing licenses, everything will be taken care of by the captain so you don’t have to worry about it.

You’re welcome to keep all legal species caught during the trip. Here to help you with anything you need, the first mate will be on hand during the trip. Leaving a tip for a job well done is much appreciated.

There will be complimentary snacks and drinks aboard for your convenience during the trip, but feel free to bring your own if you prefer. Children are welcome aboard so you’re good to get the young ones started early.

4 Hour Trip – Inshore on June 25, 2025

Capt. Clint and Mate Kyle made sure my wife (first time salt water fishing, and a recent liver transplant) and I had a great time and to catch fish. Which we did. We caught plenty of fish both trolling, and bottom fishing. Clint knows where they are, and Kyle makes sure everything is ready to go. Right there when you need him. My wife wanted to see dolphins… they found them too. The Common Sense is big, clean and very well maintained. Very smooth, stable and comfortable. We will definitely book with Common Sense (Clint and Kyle) again. Thanks guys…. We so needed and appreciated this trip!

Fantastic trip! Cannot say enough about this capt and mate. Took my sister and I inshore fishing the black bass we’re hitting hard. Doubles were more common than single catches Kyle was on it! Kept us fishing and attended to our needs at every turn. Capt knew all the best spots to fish and anytime the action slowed he moved to hit the right spot for us! Loved the whole experience would recommend Common Sense for our next trip! And yours! You can’t go wrong choosing this boat and crew! Extra special. Thank you for making the best memories ever for my twin sister and I. Best fishing trip ever!
