My son and I had the good fortune to fish for a full day with Ron and Trent on Speechless.  These two know their sport.  Speechless is spotless and incredibly comfortable.  Ron put us on the fish immediately and Trent made it happen for us in a flurry of action right away.  We went 35 miles out and hooked into black fin tuna.  If you’re thinking about a fishing trip in these waters go out with Captain Ron.  You won’ be disappointed.  He’s a great boat captain, an awesome fisherman, and just an overall good dude.  Do yourself a favor and go fishing with Ron and Trent.  We will be back as often as we can.

This was our first time fishing offshore in North Carolina. Im an avid fisherman with over 40 years experience and have caught most pelagic species from the waters of mexico to Kona , HI, to include Blue Marlin. The Speechless crew are truly professionals in every aspect of the game. First off, an immaculate rig with cutting edge electronics aboard will place ones mind at ease when fishing with your loved ones and hunting trophy fish!  The auto trim tabs made for a fast, smooth and impressive ride over 35 mi offshore.  This ultimately means more time for fishing-lures/bait in the water! The tackle was immaculate and precise, top notch shimano reels and custom rods were key in our success. Captain Ron and First Mate Hunter worked seamlessly in removing extra lines during hook-up and ensuring a high success rate for landing fish. Also, if you’ve had Captains asleep at the helm in the past, not here buddy….Captain Ron spotted a drift line of weeds that led to a phenomenal and frantic 1 hr limit of Mahi!!!  In closing, I would highly recommend Speechless sportfising from beginner to the avid trophy hunter. I have found my crew guys and will continue to bring my family every year! Thanks guys for one of the most memorable days that my family and I have had on the water!! See yall in Feb. for some Big Blue Fin huntin!!

This is definitely the easiest 5 star review to give in
EVERY aspect that can be categorized for an offshore trip!  If you’ve watched their YouTube channel (Salt Water Fishing University) then you know the boat is magnificent and that the captain is an expert.  Now, after being on the boat, I can say that although the videos are great, they don’t truly show how special this boat and crew are. 

The captain is approachable and eager to share his knowledge and experiences.  On the way back in, my teenage daughter asked all types of questions while they exchanged fish stories and fish pictures.  In addition to being a great person to be around, he understood the current conditions and trends to make sure we caught fish. 

On a day that was a bit slow for the entire fleet (listening to the radio) we got a handful of mahi, a barracuda, wahoo, a 84” blue Marlin and two sailfish!  An epic dream day to say the least!

To that, Trent (mate) was awesome!  He was relentless in cleaning/changing/checking the baits/boat, answering questions, and making sure the guests were squared away. However, what puts Trent above and beyond is his positivity, patience and encouragement.  He took every opportunity to teach and coach (there were a couple in the party that this was their first time off shore) in a manner that was uplifting and friendly. 

The boat, although named “speechless”, speaks for itself.  A wide open layout for everyone in the party to be a part of the action.  Plenty of shade and even AC if anyone needs to cool off!  The captain and mate have a special relationship that can only develop through time with one another; they seemingly know what the other is thinking and acts accordingly.

Although this was a long winded review, there were several times on the trip that I completely understood why the boat is named “Speechless”.  As I stood on the deck watching my daughter crank and catch her biggest fish, I was left without words and just happy to have and share that moment.

I know there are no guarantees in fishing, and even if we didn’t have the success we did, I would have taken the time to write a similar review and would have stepped off that boat happy as I am today and ready to go back out!  In a business that is heavily dependent on “production/results” the crew doesnt get tunnel vision and forget the human component.

I really enjoyed our charter with Captain Ron and his crew. The boat was beautiful, well maintained and clean. The water was pretty rough the day of our charter but the boat handled it well and the crew didn’t let that stop them from fishing hard. They were all easy to talk to and it was clear that they wanted to catch big fish just as much as we did. We discussed what had been biting and came up with a game plan the morning of our trip. The bite was slow due to the rough conditions but they stayed at it and eventually put us onto a few schools of tuna. Sharks took their share (3) but we landed the biggest fish I’ve ever seen in person, a nearly 5 foot long Bigeye Tuna. In the end, we all went home with coolers full of delicious meat expertly cleaned by the crew and ready for sashimi dinner. Trent, Captain Ron’s son and first mate, earned his tip and then some working hard the entire trip. Whats been great is that the experience has lived on via shared recipes and memories in the group chat and big fish stories back at work. Looking forward to our next outing with Speechless.

We had a blast fishing with Captain Ron and Trent.  The boat was super comfortable, and really clean.  Their tackle was top of the line, and ready to to go to get lines in the water as soon as we got to the fishing grounds.  What I liked most is that Captain Ron and Trent really wanted to catch fish - they had the perfect mix of deep fishing knowledge in the area and a competitive mentality to ensure they got us on the fish (which they did!). They also worked with us on the plan for the day to ensure we were fishing for our desired species.  I’m already looking forward to our next trip with Ron on the Speechless!
