Pure Angling – Lake Trout, Salmon (Troll/Jig)
We are fortunate to operate our fishing charters here on the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay in Elk Rapids & Traverse City, Michigan. The bay is 32 miles long and is separated by an East and West bay with depths up to 620’! With fishing in the bay, we are more wind protected and tend to have calmer waters with those concerned of sea sickness.
Tactics:
We offer your traditional trolling fishing trips targeting Lake Trout, Salmon, and Cisco (similar to a Whitefish). Also, a jigging/casting trip targeting Lake Trout & Cisco for those wanting more of a hands-on experience (learning curve)
The boat:
We operate our fishing charters on a 2017 Wellcraft 21’ Center Console with a 200 HP 4 stroke engine. The boat has all the latest and greatest technologies that help us find and stay on fish. We also have a porta potti available inside the console if needed while on the lake!
Meeting location:
The boat is not docked at a marina. We trailer our boat to various locations to offer you the best fishing experience (95% of the time we’ll be on the East Bay at several locations). Wherever we decide to meet, it will be 15 minutes or less away from most hotels that are along the South end of the East Bay in Traverse City.
All bait, gear, and fish cleaning is included on every fishing trip (Ziploc bags provided).
What should you bring? Have a valid Michigan fishing license by the time we meet, snacks, drinks (alcohol permitted, but in moderation), sunglasses, a cooler to take your packaged catch home (leave the big coolers & fish coolers in your vehicle, use a smaller cooler for your drinks/snacks to bring on the boat), and dress in layers as you never know what Michigan weather will bring
Best times:
Lake Trout - great all season caught by trolling
Jigging/casting: Late April - end of July
Salmon: mid August - 3rd/4th week of September (trolling only)
Cisco: April - 2nd/3rd week in June for jigging/trolling fishing trips & the end of September - October by trolling
