Discovery Charters 

Capt. Grey has been sport and commercial fishing all his life and guiding sport fishing for the past 12 years. Over the years he guided for high end fishing lodges around Kodiak island, honing his fishing and hospitality skills along the way. During his successful career in guiding and managing fishing lodges, he decided it was time to go out on his own, starting Discovery Charters in 2022.

Discovery Charters is located in Port Lions, AK and serves Kodiak via the Anton Larsen dock. The dock is a 45 minute car ride from Kodiak city and has many advantages including far fewer charter boats that fish this side of the island and sheltered inland fishing areas. Allowing us to stay out of the predominant northeast wind and swells and on top of the best fishing spots without the Kodiak city fleet to bother us.

Our prices are slightly higher than others around and considering the experience we provide, it’s quite a bargain. Our trips are quality over quantity, the group minimum is 3 people due to the fact we don’t stack or share groups on the boat, every group has their own trip. Discovery Charters strives to provide the absolute very finest and safest fishing trip attainable, not cram 6 people on board to squeeze every penny out.

C/V Discovery is a 27’ SeaSport SeaMaster, a safe and stable boat that is powered by twin Suzuki 200hp outboards and equipped with state of the art electronics including Starlink satellite internet. As far as fishing gear goes, onboard is some of the best fishing equipment that money can buy, including Accurate reels with Tuff-line superbraid mounted on Shimano Trevala rods.

We are very flexible with charters and can cater to your schedule adjusting trip times, multiple day or week long discounts and fish 6 anglers, but 4 adults Is preferable for a more comfortable and safe experience.
