As a student at Davidson College, Lake Norman is just a stone’s throw from Capt. Will’s classroom. His favorite times to fish Lake Norman are during the fall and spring when the fish are active and there is relatively little boat pressure.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Striped Bass, Largemouth, Spotted Bass, Catfish, and plenty more. You’ll target your catch by spinning, trolling, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Will also offers fly fishing, with the necessary gear included. Feel free to keep any fish you catch within size and bag limits. Capt. Will can even clean your catch for you. Have a cooler ready in the car!
You’ll be fishing aboard a 16’ Aluminum fishing with room for 2 passengers. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. You might need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. You may bring a kid on your trip. Be sure to ask the captain if a kid-size safety vest is available.
Some essentials you’ll want to bring are sunblock (non-spray), sunglasses, and snacks. Drinks will be available for you, and alcohol is allowed in moderation. Avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Awesome Fishing Trip on Lake Norman
I generally don't take the time to write reviews but if I could give this guiding outfit a 10 star, I would. Captain Will is the real deal. Prior to the trip, he clearly communicated details of our meeting location and took time to ask questions and listen to my trip expectations. Weather was fantastic on the lake this morning! We caught hybrid stripers jigging in deep water and casting in shallows around the docks. Captain Will's professionalism, patience and knowledge of the lake environment and use of necessary tackle is really impressive. His boat is comfortable and I really enjoyed my trip and the easy conversation. SUPER GREAT GUY!
