If you plan on fishing in Galveston, look no further than Winchester Yacht Service. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Terry is prepared to put you on fish.
These waters are known for Hammerhead Sharks, Tiger Sharks, Blacktip Sharks, Bull Sharks, Redfish, and more – with any luck, you’ll have tight lines in no time. Depending on the species you’re after, you may find yourself light tackle fishing, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
Planning a family adventure? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise you should bring your own. Also, remember to bring snacks to maintain your energy throughout the trip!
Your fishing machine for the day is a 55’ Hatteras convertible with room for 6 passengers. It has outriggers and all the essentials. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, along with lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you’ll be catching it yourself.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
It’s never a bad idea to bring sunblock (non-spray), a hat, and sunglasses. There will be some drinks on offer, but let the captain know if you wish to bring your own. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, just be sure to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
How often would you rather be fishing? Go on and turn that day dream into a reality, with Winchester Yacht Service.
