These waters are known for Roosterfish, Snook, Red Emperor Snapper, Red Snapper, Pacific Barracuda, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Broomtail Grouper, Jack Crevalle, Horse-eye Jack, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, and more – with any luck, it won’t take long to hook into some.
During the trip you might be spinning, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Luis Carlos also offers fly fishing, but you may need to bring your own fly gear.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. Snacks are also a good idea – lucky for you, there will already be some on board!
Capt. Luis Carlos runs a 26’ Center console with capacity for 5 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience.
Capt. Luis Carlos will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is included, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 10–20% tip is customary.
Before coming aboard, it may be necessary to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect.
