FishGH is a premium fishing charter service operated from Chinook Pier in Grand Haven, MI. We specialize in family-friendly fishing excursions and corporate outings.

We have been operating since 1984. Our boat Down Time was completely restored in 2022 and can comfortably accommodate 6 guests in all weather conditions.

Down Time is a 33’ Wellcraft Coastal and was built to fish offshore in any conditions. She is always clean and we have a full-size bathroom on board that is clean and comfortable. Downtime is equipped with the latest fishing gear and electronics including GPS, Radar, VHF radio, and sonar fish finder.

Our crew is polite and friendly and loves to share our love for fishing with children. No fishing experience is necessary. Guests can bring aboard a cooler with food and drinks of their choice. We ask that you not bring glass bottles, hard liquor, or bananas on board. We always have complimentary cold water available as well.

We will be trolling, primarily for Salmon and Trout on Lake Michigan. We are typically 1-5 miles offshore depending on several factors like time of the season, weather conditions, and water temperatures.

When you return from your trip we will take group photos, clean your catch and provide fresh bags and ice. We also participate in the Cook the Catch program where you have the option to bring your fresh fish to a local restaurant and have a full meal prepared (additional fees apply).

Great for First Timers or the experienced!

5 Hour Fishing Trip - (PM) Weekend on June 28, 2025 • 4 adults

We had an amazing trip, we had 4 people and each one of us was able to land a fish. The crew worked hard, their knowledge and experience was very apparent and they did everything they could do make sure we landed some big fish. They were fun and made the trip even better. The experience with family is one you will never forget and was worth every penny. We went to a local restaurant afterwards and did the catch and cook program which was $18 per person and came with sides and that felt amazing and worth it too. Overall perfect little vacation that FishGH helped to make it even better!

Fantastic Evening

2 Hour - lighthouse/fishing tour on July 11, 2025 • 2 adults

We booked a charter and did not know what to expect? However, the overall experience was great. From the moment we boarded the boat till we arrived back. Captain Brian was so friendly and knowledgeable. My wife and I ended up catching 11-13 fish. Some Drums, Catfish and Bass. We caught a huge Catfish which we kept. We fished out of the Spring Lake area because it was more active and we only had a two hour charter. We had started getting bites as soon as we started to troll. I will book again with FishGH. They were fun and Amazing. Thanks

5 Hour Fishing Trip - (PM) Weekend on September 26, 2025 • 5 adults

Captain Brian’s communication was awesome and Captain Jordan led a great day on the Lake! We landed 6 nice King salmon and Steelhead and had a blast doing it! Chinook pier is super easy to navigate and gets you out onto the Lake quickly. Service after we docked was fantastic as well. Left with several beautiful fillets!

Rough start

4 Hour Trip (PM) – Weekend on July 26, 2025 • 4 adults

This trip was a Father's day gift to 4 men in our lives. They were able to find the lot and the pier just fine but parking was a bit of an issue as the Coast Guard festival was also taking place. When they got to the designated boat there was noone there. The guys reached out to the phone number that was listed on the booking paperwork only to be told that their trip had been canceled. I had reached out the day before the trip to confirm that the trip would still be happening because there was rain in the forecast. I recieved a message back from the "captain " stating that, yes, the trip was still good to go. Our guys got all the way there and were told different. There was some upset and confusion. They were finally able to get in touch with the captain who ended up coming back to his boat and they finally were able to get on the water about 40 minutes after their original start time. Not one of the four guys caught any fish which was a bummer but that is the nature of the game so it was accepted as such. Overall, they said the trip was enjoyable and once everything actually got going the captain was pleasant and engaging but the final consensus was that it was a really expensive boat ride.

Sherry, I apologize again for the inconvenience. We got out as fast as we could and stayed out additional time. The Coast Guard had the channel shut down temporarily for activities and demonstrations related to the festival. I know the guys had a good time and it was a tough afternoon for fishing. We had 3 fish on but unfortunately we did lose them all. That’s not what anyone dreams of. I’ll make sure we do our best to catch them a cooler full of fish next time. Brian
