Captain Joe's Charter
If you're ready to love fishing in Morehead City, look no further than Captain Joe's Charter. Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Joe can tell you all about the local fishery.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Snowy Grouper, Atlantic Mackerel, Blue Marlin, White Marlin, Sailfish, Swordfish, Gray Triggerfish, Blackfin Tuna, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, and who knows what yet! On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using heavy tackle. Any fish you catch are yours to take with you, provided they're legal to keep.
Capt. Joe runs a 65' Offshore sport fishing with room for 8 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Capt. Joe
will supply rods and reels for you, along with lures. Live bait is included, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate, who's there to help you fish and keep everyone safe on board. Mates work hard to make your trip count, so a 15%–20% gratuity is customary and much appreciated.
There's no need to buy a fishing license, just show up ready for a good time! Have in mind that you may release some fish due to regulations. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain. Looking to get the whole family outdoors? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly! It's recommended to bring sunglasses, sunblock (non-spray), bottled water, and a hat. If you'd like to bring other drinks, just ask.
Give yourself something to look forward to and book a trip with Captain Joe's Charter!

Had a great time on the April Mae, seas were 8-10’ had a few of us blowing chunks but overall we caught fish and had a blast! Crew was bound and dtermined to make sure we had a great time. We will be back again soon!!!!!!

Thanks and see you soon

Great boat and crew!

The charter operation canceled -4 days after the trip date.
I’m sure our experience was different than it would be for a different group of people….Our ages range from 14-80, and our levels of fishing experience was just as broad, but everyone had a great time! We had a slow day, but we all still got one time with a fish. The crew was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. There was plenty of seating inside and outside of the cabin. It was clean and very comfortable. I definitely recommend.

Thanks
What an experience! Captain and crew were top notch even before stepping on the boat. THey helped everyone in the party onto and off of the boat and were quick to put out non-skid mats dockside so no one would slip. While on the cruise to 34 Degrees North the crew was quick to point out the wild horses on the banks of the waterway with penty of time for pictures. The ride was very smooth and stable. The boat is very well appointed and you can see it is very well maintained and clean. Coming back in the dark was not a worry since the boat has all of the latest electronics including night vision. Once tied back up in the slip we were not hurried off the boat since there was still time left on the charter allowing our party to have a night-cap cocktail to finish off a very enjoyable experience. We will be doing this again on the April Mae!
