+21Planning your fishing trip in Seward just got easier, thanks to First Cast Fishing!
You’ll be fishing from the shore, including some spots only locals know about. Gabriel specializes in light tackle fishing, and that’s what you can expect on the day of your trip. You will also wade for your catch. Gabriel will provide rods and reels. Depending on the time of year, Chinook Salmon, Pink Salmon, Coho Salmon, and more could be biting.
You’re welcome to have any fish that meet regulations. Gabriel even offers to clean your catch, so it’s ready to fry up at home. Have a cooler ready in the car! Gabriel welcomes groups as large as 20 on this guided experience. You’ll make your way to the fishing grounds on foot, so dress for current weather conditions and bring only as much as you can carry.
With liberal limits of Salmon, you can have fun and put fish in the freezer. You’ll enjoy the stunning wildlife and Alaskan views. Depending on the time of year, our species of Salmon change. In May, June, and July, there are King Salmon and Sockeye. In July and August, there are Pink Salmon and Chum Salmon. The Silver Salmon start coming mid-August and run through September.
Layered clothing and appropriate footwear are always encouraged (if you aren’t sure what that means, ask). It’s always a good idea to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen, rain or shine. Gabriel welcomes anglers of all ages on these trips, including kids. Your fishing license for the day is not included, so members of your group may need to buy one.

Gabe is the perfect guide to share the sockeye from shore experience. Skilled and knowledgeable of the fishery. There is a lot of other entertaining methods of catching occurring all over but we hung on the fringe of the crowds and caught our fish. He and Luis were like old friends from the moment we showed up 5…..maybe 15 min late.

18 pounds of fillets!

Our group of three caught at least one sockeye each. That, along with the Gabriel and Luis’s catch, was 18 pounds of fillets we will share with our friends! Thank you Captain Gabriel for an awesome day of fishing. We had a great time fishing alongside the eagles at beautiful Resurrection Bay!

Fishing trip with grandkids

Gab and his entire crew was so helpful. I needed help crossing the streams and they were very patient helping. I felt completely safe. They helped the grandkids fish and were wonderful with them. They were great and fun to visit with. Great experience. Would certainly recommend to everyone.

Great fun! Perfect for both first-timers and seasoned anglers!
Half Day Trip (PM) on July 9, 2024
We were both first-timers. Took us a while to learn how to cast, reel, and snag properly. Both Gabe and Luis were great teachers with tons of patience. Even though we only caught two salmon between the four of us, we still had a great fun and memorable experiences. The view was stunning. The weather was better than expected. We had a close encounter with a bald eagle who just sat there less than 10 feet away from our group. That was so cool! We brought along my 72-y/o mom who didn't fish. Even though she was a plus-one, Gabe and Luis provided her with waders and helped her on a short hike to the shore. Thank you, Luis, for keeping her company while Gabe was busy helping us fish! Thank you for having us! After the trip, we ran into a gentleman who went fishing on a boat and didn't catch many either. So today was an unfortunate day for everyone. We will definitely come back again. Better luck next time!
