Around here the fishing is popular for Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Lake Trout, Rainbow Trout, Walleye, and more if conditions allow.
During the trip, you might be light tackle fishing, trolling, jigging, or maybe something more specialized in this area.
You’re welcome to keep some of the fish you catch, so long as it’s legal. Capt. Eric can even clean your catch for you. Your next meal doesn’t get any fresher than that!
Capt. Eric welcomes children aboard, so feel free to make a family day out of it! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board.
Your boat for the day is a 21’ Hewes aluminum fishing craft with room for 4 passengers. It comes with downriggers and everything else you need for a productive day on the water. Rods, reels, and tackle are provided, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but it’s good to ask about this so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Before coming aboard, you will need to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Some essentials you’ll want to bring are sunglasses, rain gear, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks are included, free of charge. There will be some light snacks for you on board.

Half Day Morning Powerboat Fishing on June 21, 2025
The captain was extremely helpful and responsive. Any questions you could possible have whether it’s fishing, hunting, Cody, or Wyoming. He will have the answer. My wife and I had a great time and we would do it again if we come back to Cody. If there’s a slot open, book it! Between my wife and I, we caught around 8 fish. That doesn’t account for all the fish my wife and I lost due to us messing it up. The captain knows the spots and how to make sure you enjoy the moment. Can’t recommend it enough.

Half Day Morning Powerboat Fishing on June 16, 2025
My wife and I purchased this half day trip for ourselves and her parents. It was a really great experience from the start! Eric is very nice and outgoing as well as knowledgeable. He explained everything about his boat setup. We chatted easily for the whole 4 hours and caught 9 good size fish! We couldn’t ask for more! Sean and Dani.

Epic day of fishing excitement!
Full Day Trip - Power Boat Fishing on July 14, 2024
We had a terrific day fishing for cutthroat and splake with Reel Action Fishing. Our captain, Eric, met us with his boat and all fishing gear for a day on the lake. He also provided cold water and delicious snacks. Best of all, he’s an expert fishing guide. He set the lines up perfectly to catch amazing splake and cutthroat. We reeled them in! At one point we were fighting two fish at once and we’d just caught two others, so Captain Eric was scrambling to net our fish and get the lines back out in the lake. We had so much fun! Before the end of the day, we caught our limit. Captain Eric expertly processed and filleted our fish, and we returned home with a load of delicious trout. What a great experience. I highly recommend Reel Action Fishing.

Full Day Trip - Power Boat Fishing on June 11, 2025
Captain Eric took us to the lower sunshine reservoir and we caught fish all day long! The scenery was spectacular! Captain Eric was great with keeping my seven year old son busy. Highly recommend taking a trip with him! It’s was a memorable day for my son and I!

Eric was kind, knowledgeable and knew so much about the fish. I booked this trip for an early Father’s Day gift and really enjoyed being out on the water with my dad. We caught a total of 16 fish and had a wonderful time!
