Based in Kailua-Kona, Sea Strike runs their trips year round. They specialize in catching big game fish and adjust their trips to any skill level.
It may sound strange to mention big game offshore trips as family-friendly but this crew makes them like that! Captain Dale Leverone is usually joined by his son on the boat, and together, they make sure you have a successful day on the water, even if you’re a beginner. You only need a bit of enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
You’ll be fishing aboard a spacious 31’ Bertram boat. This fishing machine accommodates up to 6 anglers. She’s fully equipped with navigational electronics, a private bathroom, a fighting chair, trolling gear, and lots of seating and storage space.
Once out offshore, you’ll mostly troll for Mahi Mahi, Wahoo, Swordfish, and several types of Marlin and Tuna. You can expect lots of hard battles, giant leaps out of the water, and screaming reels!
The crew will cover your fishing equipment, license, bait, and clean your catch if it’s under 25 pounds. You just need to bring some snacks, food, and sun protection.

Half Day Trip on March 13, 2025
Went out with my wife and two daughters. Captain Dale, and first mate Ryan we’re very hospitable and welcoming. Ryan was super informative as well as a good coach when the fish were on - catching two Marlin - a blue and a striped (both Released). Having been out on several charters, I realize how fortunate we were to get two Marlin (we were prepared for a nice boat ride and view of the Kona coastline). We are all appreciative of Dale and Ryan for providing such a memorable experience and day. I’ll be connecting with Dale again on my next trip.

I would highly recommend the sea strike to anyone visiting the area.. the Capt was very knowledgeable. I was only here for a few days and wanted to target pelagics… He got me on the fish and we caught a blue marlin and short billed spearfish.. it was a great day out on the water with Capt Dale and his mate

Captain Dale and Deck Hand Ryan were amazing. We had two people go out on charter with little to no experience with fishing for marlin or in the ocean for that matter. They took the time to show us what we needed to do and explained any question we had very well. It was a great experience and will book again!

Captain Dale has been fishing for all of his life. During his visit to Hawaii, he fell in love with the country and even more in fishing opportunities it offers. This happened 35 years ago and he never stopped fishing ever since. Fishing has always been his favorite thing to do and he even dropped out of college to do it. Besides running trips with clients and teaching them how to fish, he also participates in fishing tournaments. So far, he won HIBT 3 times!
