If fishing in Winthrop Harbor is on your bucket list, look no further than GOFORIT Charters. With Captain Mike at the helm, you’re in knowledgeable and experienced hands.
Depending on conditions, you might hook into Brown Trout, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, Chinook Salmon, Lake Trout, and who knows what else! On these trips, you can expect to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Any fish within the legal limit is yours to keep. Catch cleaning is available for $2.00 a fish.
Trips with GOFORIT Charters are child-friendly, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Don’t forget to bring snacks, drinks, sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid glass bottles.
You’ll be welcome aboard The Magnum, a 36’ Tiara offshore sport fishing that holds up to 6 passengers. It comes with outriggers, downriggers, and all the essentials, plus a toilet on board for your convenience. What’s more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, as well as lures.
Trips are run with the help of a First Mate. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work. You’ll need to bring a valid State of Illinois fishing license along with a Lake Michigan Salmon stamp. You can purchase it online or ask the captain for more info.

Beautiful Boat, Great Captain
Took the fiancee, her parents, and siblings up to Zion for Father's Day weekend. Fishing on the Magnum was easily the high point of our trip. Everyone got a couple fish, and then some! Great feeling to have fresh-caught fish to bring home and share with the family. Took the 5AM slot, and by 5:30, even the teens were already having a blast. Sailing with Captain Mike was super relaxing, and one of the most stress relieving experiences of my life. Super easy going, very attentive, and great sense of humor. 6 hours has never gone by so quickly, I wish we could have been out there longer, but we probably would have had to bring a bigger cooler! Thanks again Mike for being the highlight of our vacation, and we will definitely be back before the season ends! Already cooked up some of the salmon and Red Lobster will never taste as good again!

Just WOW!!
We had the absolute BEST time with Captain Mike and his mate Dylan!! My son was way overdue for an amazing fishing experience and we got more than we asked for. We caught our limit in the first 2 hours of our 6 hour trip. My 11 year old and his friend just kept reeling them in. Will we be back? 100000% yes! Thank you Mike for the bday my son will be talking about for a long time!!

A Great Captain and Great Day Catching Fish
I do not impress easily, , but Capt. Mike did exactly that. The day was IMPRESSIVE! Yesterday **hidden content**) we spent the morning with Capt.. Mike, whose boat, equipment and personality made this a truly memorable day. He suggested we get out a bit earlier as the King Salmon were hitting. First fish a 26# King wrestled in by my Great Nephew on the left side of the picture. His 1st Lake Michigan catch and it was a beauty. Everyone caught fish as you can see. Capt. Mike knew how to work with the other charter captains as to what was working and where the fish were. Mike is a seasoned sportsman and it is evident he enjoys fishing. We caught Brown Trout, King Salmon, Coho, Lake Trout and Rainbow Trout, as evidenced by the photo. Memories of this day are the type you remember for the rest of your life.

We had the absolute BEST time with Captain Mike and his mate Dylan!! My son was way overdue for an amazing fishing experience and we got more than we asked for.
