Enjoy a day on the water with Capt. Brian Thomason, in his new 28’ Sportsman 282 TE, named Second Chance. He will always try his best to provide a top-notch light tackle fishing charter.

Fishing is his passion, and he truly enjoys his time spent on the water finding fish for his clients. He’s always willing to teach and go the extra mile to make sure that every trip is a memorable one. This area is blessed with one of the best fisheries on the East Coast, with many opportunities throughout the year for Striped Bass, Redfish, Cobia, Bluefish, Spanish Mackerel, and Speckled Trout.

Any fish within the legal limit is yours to keep. Plus, you can have your catch cleaned. Children are welcome aboard. The captain will provide fishing licenses and all the necessary gear. It’s always a good idea to bring snacks, drinks, sunblock, a hat, and sunglasses.

The Second Chance is the perfect fishing machine with the best of electronics, a 1/2 tower for sight fishing, trolling motor for shallow water fishing, or spot locking over a structure. It also has plenty of comfort for family trips, including a toilet on board.

Brian is a co-captain of Thomason Tradition Sport Fishing, and always dreamed of being excited to go to work every day. Now that has become a reality since joining his son’s company and becoming a light tackle charter captain!

Target species change with the season from chasing the migrating giant Stripers, fishing the huge Red Drum schools, jigging the schooled-up Stripers in the fall, or summertime shallow water fishing. You will not find a harder-working captain who will always focus on making sure it is an enjoyable trip!

5 hour Trip – Light Tackle on June 8, 2025

We went out as a group of three and had the time of our lives. Captain Brian is a great friendly local guy who works his butt off to find you fish. He got us on the fish, and we caught a bunch of rockfish. Unfortunately most were too big or slightly too small to keep and we fell 1 short of our limit. That being said it was better to have action and fun than it was to keep 1 additional fish. His boat is state of the art and was very comfortable to ride in on a choppy day. He was very flexible with scheduling and worked around spotty weather. I can’t speak highly enough of him and can’t wait to go out again with him.

Brian is a great , even more, an outsanding skipper ! Due to bad weather conditions on the day before, finding the « big fish » was really very difficult. But Brian never gave up and after 4hrs of intensive search , he succeeded to put us on the fish: first a very big red drum, second, a huge Cobia! Many thanks to you Brian, for your kindness and also for your professionalism!Fishing with you was a great moment for us ! We’ll come back for no doubt!

first captain brian is the best. the weather forecast was for scattered thunder storms, after getting out in the bay and seeing the weather, we decided to fish in the river. captain brian made the trip a real pleasure with his way of setting up lines, explaining a little history of the area. it was like fishing with an old friend, very relaxing. planning on rebooking soon.

I have owned a roofing company for over 20 years and always dreamed of waking up and being excited about going to work. Fishing has always been a passion of mine since an early age, and I enjoy sharing fishing experiences with others while making new friends and clients in this business. I have purchased the boat of my dreams, and it's the perfect fishing machine; spacious and comfortable with all the high-end equipment to ensure fishing success. Now that I am a captain, I look forward to every day spent on the water and the excitement the day may bring!
