Ventura has a fish with your name on it, so let True Blue Adventures help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Darryl can tell you all about the local fishery.
These waters are known for Calico Bass, California Sheephead, Whitefish, Halibut, Lingcod, Rockfish, White Seabass, Squid, Yellowtail, and more.
You’ll target your catch by trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Fish caught during the trip are yours to take home, so long as they’re within the legal limit. The crew can even clean your catch for you. Have a cooler ready in the car!
You’ll be dropping lines from a 24’ Sea Chaser that holds up to 4 passengers. It has fishfinders and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Rods, reels, tackle, and lures are ready for you. Live bait is sometimes available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself. However, squid is always available and serves as a great bait option.
On some of the trips, you’ll have the help of a first mate to put you on fish. It’s customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation. You might need to buy a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species may be off-limits or require a special tag, so make sure you know what to expect.
Trips with True Blue Adventures are child-friendly, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Child-sized life vests are always available on board. It’s never a bad idea to bring sunscreen (non-spray) and sunglasses. Mornings tend to be cold even in the summer, so make sure to dress for the occasion. Bottled water, sodas, non-alcoholic beverages, and some light snacks are available on board, too. Alcohol is not allowed.
Now’s the time to experience fishing in Ventura for yourself with True Blue Adventures!
