Today We Fish Charter – Rio Hondo
Captain Steve specializes in drift fishing and wade fishing the flats in the bay for Redfish, Flounder, and Speckled Trout. When the weather conditions are favorable, you can venture nearshore, bottom fishing for Red Snapper. If you prefer trolling, go for King Mackerel.
If you’re an angler who enjoys to catch, photograph, and release - by all means, you are welcome to come on board. Just as well for those who want to keep there catch.
You’ll be fishing on a 22’ Majek Redfish Line boat that accommodates up to 4guests. This bay boat is powered by a 175 HP Mercury engine, features navigational electronics, a live bait tank, and a cooler. Captain Abel is a licensed USCG Captain and has all the necessary safety equipment on board, so you can feel safe and enjoy your fishing trip.
You’ll fish with lures, both hard and soft plastics. Cut bait for bottom fishing is the best choice if you’re targeting big Redfish. You can also use live bait such as live pinfish, live shrimp, and live croaker. Don’t miss out on the chance to fish with a popping cork, the way big trout like it.
All your fishing equipment, catch cleaning, and refreshing drinks are covered by the captain. You’ll need to bring your fishing license and pack some snacks for the day.
No matter what type of trip you choose with Captain Steve it’s a sight to be seen. And yes, the big 30’s do come out and play.

1/2 Day AM Bay Fishing Trip
Great Trip
I cannot say enough good about Captain Steven Hillary and our fishing trip. When we booked the trip, Steven immediately contacted us and confirmed our trip. We discussed our desires and intentions concerning the trip. My wife and I and in the 60+ age group and wanted a trip that included both fishing and sightseeing. Capt. Hillary provided both and exceeded our expectation. We caught plenty of Specs, and saw our share of wildlife. He even took the time to stop and show us the mangroves where alligators hang out. Steven is very knowledgeable about the bay and ecosystems. He understands how everything interacts in our systems and seems to be care about the environment while still providing excellent fishing opportunities. We will be booking with Capt. Steven again very soon. He also is a USMC veteran and we support our fellow veterans.

enjoyed a new challenge of fishing in shallow water(two feet or so). Steve was very informative and a very good guide in navigating the shallow waters in this area. Equipment and boat were in top shape. Enjoyed the new challenge and look forward to a return visit with Steve in this outstanding fishery.

1/2 Day AM Bay Fishing Trip
Captain Hilary is the man!
I told the captain the only thing I wanted was to catch sea trout and reds. I didn't care how or where, just wanted to do it. He promised it would happen, and man was he right! We had an awesome day knocking 2 species off my list. It was a great day. He will take care of you.
