Book your next trip with Pila’s Sport Fishing and find out what fishing in Ensenada is all about. Your guide for the day is Captain Alex, giving you access to years of local experience.
These waters are known for Pacific Barracuda, Bonito, Mahi Mahi, Lingcod, Striped Marlin, Rockfish, Sand Bass, Scorpionfish, Black Seabass, and more – with any luck, you’ll find out for yourself! During the trip, you might be light tackle fishing, popping, trolling, drifting, jigging, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Alex can also show you kite fishing. For the more adventurous among you, there’s spearfishing and bowfishing.
If you’re traveling with the family, you will be glad to know that kids are welcome aboard! Children must wear life vests, so find out if the appropriate size is available on board. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets grumpy on an empty stomach!
Your trip begins aboard a 65’ Bertram motor yacht with space for 18 passengers. It has everything you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures. Live bait is included, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
There will be a First Mate on board to help your trip run smoothly. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work.
You will need to get a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. Don’t leave home without sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen (non-spray), and bottled water. If you’d like to bring other drinks, just ask. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.
