Anthony Scott specializes in fishing the waters around Matagorda and invites you along for a trip to remember.

You won’t have to travel far to fish these inshore and nearshore waters, including a few honey holes that only the locals can clue you in on.

Your guide specializes in light tackle fishing, which is what you’ll be doing on the day of your trip. You can also do a bit of spinning, popping, jigging, bottom fishing, drifting, and maybe more your guide wants to show you. Anthony will provide rods and reels, as well as lures and live bait.

Fishing around here will often see you targeting Black Drum, Bull Shark, Jack Crevalle, Redfish, Blacktip Shark, Bonnethead Shark, Lemon Shark, Tiger Shark, Sheepshead, Speckled Trout, and more with any luck.

You’re welcome to keep any fish that are legal to harvest. Anthony even offers clean your catch for you so it’s easy to cook. Now that’s a fresh meal! As many as 12 people are welcome on these excursions. You’ll make your way to the fishing grounds on foot, so be sure to dress for current weather conditions and bring only as much as you can carry. Anthony welcomes anglers of all ages on these trips, including kids.

Your fishing license for the day is not included, so members of your group will need to buy one. You can find out more online, including exceptions that may apply. Plan to dress in layers and appropriate footwear (if you aren’t sure what that means, just ask). It’s never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen, rain or shine.
