Chinook Salmon, Lake Trout, Atlantic Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, and Steelhead inhabit these waters! On these trips, it's common to troll using light or heavy tackle. Capt. Greg of Island Charters also offers fly fishing and casting trips for Pike and Smallmouth Bass.
Thinking of bringing the whole family? Kids are absolutely welcome! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available, otherwise, you should bring your own. Also, remember to bring snacks so that nobody gets cranky on an empty belly!
Capt. Greg operates a 25' Sportcraft offshore sport fishing boat with space for 6 passengers. It comes with downriggers and all the essentials. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. Your captain will provide rods and reels, as well as lures and everything else you would need to land the trophy fish!
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
Before coming aboard, you will be required to buy a local fishing license for everyone in your group. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. It's never a bad idea to bring sunglasses, a hat, sunblock (non-spray), and bottled water. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, so long as you avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

We think we had a couple salmon on the lines but they ended up fighting until they released themselves. No matter, as we have plenty to cook for our fish tacos that we are cooking right now! Great trip, highly recommended.

They answered all our Q and were delightful!! We are a family of 5 adults and it was just right for us! Just remember folks, get your MI fishing license and hop aboard, you won’t be disappointed!

Our trip was great, Captain Greg really knew his business. My wife and I were picked up promptly and Greg discussed our options. I am an experienced fisherman and my wife has much less time fishing, My goal was to catch a pike with a fly rod. Our boat was well equipped and Greg knew where to go what fly to use and how to position the boat to allow proper casting. He was friendly and easy to talk to and we enjoyed our time with him. I learned to handle the wind with his advice and caught a nice pike! My wife also caught a pike on a spinning rod with Greg's help. Pike fishing is somewhat slow in September but Greg knew where to go = priceless. I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with Island Charters in the future. Grins, John S.
