Pelican State Fishing Charters
Join Pelican State Fishing Charters to go inshore fishing in the Batartaria Basin marsh system. Located close to New Orleans, they offer diverse fishing trips around Lafitte and Barataria. Captain David Terese has been fishing the South Louisiana marsh systems for over 40 years, so you can be sure he knows all the best fishing spots.
Capt. Dave chose the 23’ Ranger saltwater fishing boat because of its smooth ride. The boat is powered by a 225 HP Honda engine and equipped with a trolling motor and anchoring system to give you the best chance of catching a variety of inshore species. It also features a live bait tank and seating for up to 5 anglers.
The crew primarily fishes with artificial lures, although you are welcome to fish with live bait at an extra cost. They use Penn reels and All Star rods. Any fish you decide to keep will be cleaned and filleted for you free of charge at the end of the day.
These are very fish-rich waters, so there’s a variety of species you can target. You’ll test your angling skills against creatures like Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Sheepshead, and Black Drum, depending on the season and the conditions on the day.
All rods, reels and terminal tackle that you will need throughout your trip are included in the price, and some snacks and drinks are also provided by the captain. All you need to bring is your lunch and a valid Louisiana fishing license.
Capt. Dave will provide an informative and enjoyable trip for anglers of all skill levels. Don’t forget to ask him for his blackened Redfish recipe before you go home!
Come and explore these prolific waters off the coast of Louisiana, and have the fishing adventure of a lifetime!
