Hoping to catch some fish in New York City? Look no further than J Rod3 Charters!

Bluefish, Common Ling, Striped Bass, Cod, Flounder, Black Seabass, Porgy, Weakfish, and more are in the cards if you come at the right time of year. On the day of your trip, you’re likely to troll and bottom fish using light or heavy tackle. Any fish within the legal limit is yours to keep. Plus, you can have your catch cleaned. Now that’s dinner!

You’ll find yourself aboard a 31’ Downeast that holds up to 6 passengers. It has everything else you need for a productive day on the water. There’s a toilet on board for your convenience. You’ll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.

You’ll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work. The charter boat covers your fishing license, just show up ready for some fishing! Keep in mind that some fish may have harvest limits or closed seasons. Simply ask and your captain can tell you more.

Capt. Jared welcomes anglers of all ages, including kids, so get ‘em offline and onto the water! If you don’t have a child-sized life vest of your own, be sure to ask if there’s one on board. A few items to bring include snacks, drinks, a hat, sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor and glass bottles.

Your trip with J Rod3 Charters is just a click away, so why not make it happen?

3/4 Day Trip – Striped Bass on July 22, 2024

I took my 12 year old son and his two friends on Jared’s Charter and we were not disappointed. The crew found common grounds and conversed with my son and his two friends. They were nonstop joking and laughing all while catching fish after fish. It was a phenomenal experience and made it a moment my son and his friends will for ever remember. The crew took great photos of all the catches. We caught shark, sea robins and sting rays. We also caught more than 20 fluke, with 11 being the appropriate size we could fillet and bring home(which taste so fresh). We look forward to stripped bass fishing this Autum/winter, we’re hooked!

Jared and Dillon are a solid team. We caught striped bass, fluke, and bluefish. Jared and Dillion went the extra mile, literally and figuratively. Thanks for also cleaning our fish. Haul was 6 striped bass, 3 bluefish, and a fluke.

3/4 Day Trip – Striped Bass on November 3, 2023

Me and my buddies had an amazing trip with Captain Jared! The cap knew exactly where to take us and we hooked our first fish before the third rod was in the water! And the fish kept coming. It was a fisherman’s dream come true. The striped bass were plentiful and the bluefish were fighting hard! We caught our bass quota very fast, but kept fishing to see if we could land a bigger one. We got several bass that were over the 31” inch limit! The bluefish measured close to 3ft! Overall we lost track of the number we caught, but it was easily over 30. Captain Jared had his work cut out for him and he delivered. Getting the lures into the water, helping pull up the fish and then finally filleting the fish with impressive precision and skill! I will remember this trip for the rest of my life as will my friends! Thanks Captain Jared!

3/4 Day Trip – Striped Bass on July 9, 2024

Very nice and knowledgeable captain but I would not recommend. We didn’t go very far and spent most of the 6 hour trip in two places. I get NY not known for fishing but I grew up fishing with my grandpa off the coast of Long Island and figured a nice day on the ocean, catching fish and seeing the sights would be enjoyable. Never made it to the ocean and looked at a restaurant right by the bridge for over two hours before we asked that he just bring us back. It was ok but not worth the cost and vacationers would not see what makes the Long Island coast beautiful in its own right.

I’m sorry to hear the trip wasn’t everything you hoped for but unfortunately the ocean conditions were not optimal for us to get out there so we played it safe and we fished where the fish have been biting. We caught a bunch of fish which I guaranteed - a catch and good experience! Our first priority is always to catch fish but I am happy to take you on a more scenic route next time. Thanks for coming out, it was nice having your group onboard!
