Spend the day with Callaghan Coastal Charter and let Captain Matt show you what makes the fishing in Mount Pleasant so memorable! You will feel extra safe as Captain Matt is a firefighter/EMT as well as a fishing captain!
These waters are known for Blacktip Shark, Spotted Seatrout, Redfish, Black Drum, Sheepshead, and more – with any luck, you’ll find out for yourself! On these trips, it’s common to bottom fish using light or heavy tackle.
You’ll be casting lines from a BullsBay 2400 with room for 6 passengers. It comes with all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Capt. Matthew has rods and reels for you. Live bait is on offer, but be sure to ask about it so you know if you’ll be catching it yourself.
Your fishing license for the day is covered by the charter boat, just show up ready for a good time! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. Your captain will help you follow regulations while you fish. Don’t leave home without sunglasses, bottled water, and sunscreen (non-spray). Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but try to avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Booked a 1/2 day trip with Matt. I cannot say enough good things about Matt and his teenage son. Very knowledgeable when it came to locations and bait selection to target the fish. The very first cast of the day we had a red fish boated and that set the tone for the morning. Spent the second part of the trip targeting sharks. Nothing beats the sound of a fishing rod spittin’ drag and we heard it five times with five sharks caught. Whether you are a seasoned angler or a first-timer, Matt is the guide you want if you are chasing an unforgettable day on the water. My sons will be back in Charleston in a few months and will be calling Matt for round two!

We had a great time fishing with Matt. He is very knowledgeable about the area and lead us to multiple spots when one wasn’t working. We caught a decent amount of fish, and went after multiple species. I would highly recommend fishing with him.

My 9 year old son and I had a wonderful time with Matthew. We caught several different types of fish, and topped it off with my son catching a giant red fish and a shark! Matthew is a very knowledgeable guide. Highly recommended!!
