Columba's Tours
La Cruz De Huanacaxtle has a fish with your name on it, so let Turismo Náutico Columba's help you catch it! Having logged many hours on these tides, Captain Fidel can tell you all about the local fishery.
Around here the fishing is popular for Amberjack, Yellowfin Tuna, Striped Marlin, Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Jack Crevalle, African Pompano Jack, Skipjack Tuna, Roosterfish, Sailfish, Dolphin (Mahi Mahi), Cubera Snapper, more if conditions are right. During the trip, you might be spinning, popping, trolling, bottom fishing, or maybe something more specialized in this area. Capt. Fidel can also show you kite fishing.
You'll be casting lines from a 28' Nava Superpanga with room for 4 passengers. It has outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. There's a toilet on board for your convenience. What's more, this vessel is wheelchair accessible. You'll find rods, reels, and tackle waiting for you, as well as lures. Live bait is available, but you should ask the captain whether you'll be catching it yourself.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. It's customary to tip the Mate 10–20% to show your appreciation.
You will need to purchase a local fishing license before the trip. This information is usually available online, or you can ask the captain. Some species might be protected or require a tag to keep them, so make sure you know what to expect. Some essentials to bring are sunglasses, and sunblock (non-spray). Drinks will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation, but you should avoid hard liquor as well as glass bottles.

Booked a six hour attempt to catch a marlin or sailfish but no bites. We started early at 7am, and Fidel and Alejandro tried really hard but nothing was biting for us or the other guys who were out in the deep blue. That's why they call it fishing, not catching! We saw many humpback whales and dolphin pods up close which was still a real treat. When we headed back inland, we cast a few lines and still managed to land a nice Jack Crevalle and African Pompano, so we weren't skunked after all. Both fish put up a good fight and made for great photo ops. I'd definitely recommend Fidel and we'll try our luck again another time.
What a great day on the water. We did the 10 hour tour and it was truly fantastic. We caught Marlin, Wahoo and Dorado's. Fidel our captain and Antonio worked hard to insure we had the best adventure.
great day on the water with Edgar and Fidel! lots of fun and fish.!
Captain Fidel and his first mate did a great job!
La Cruz De Huanacaxtle, Nayarit, Mexico
Captain Fidel has been running his own business for 30 years. Before that, he worked as a captain for 10 years, to learn and develop. He says his job is like having vacations every day, and that is how he feels! He is proud to be a local, born and raised in this village, so he knows all the people and places there. He is the only captain on this charter, but in case of illness, he has a captain to take his boat and customers out. He always has a first mate, and both of them speak English.
